Program: RSSOwl
License: Open Source/GPL
Description: A full featured standalone RSS feed reader
Website: http://www.rssowl.org/
I believe someone created it already but it appears it hasn't been updated in years.

Would it be possible for someone to get this into the portableapps suite of programs (or if there is another standalone rss reader that can be converted more easily, that is fine too)? It is also based on Java which is probably not ideal. Greatnews or Feeddemon or a similiar type app might do better.
I also realize there are a few apps in the RSS category but 2 are plugins for firefox and the other is a notifier. It would be preferable to have an option that was full featured and didn't count on another program to run.
There is a newer beta test that was updated last year.
That looks promising but it is older and doesn't look like it is being updated. It would be nice to have it be a current app that is updated regularly. RSS Owl is one open source reader. I have actually used RSS Bandit which is open source and would be another great candidate.
@John T. Haller
I can't find a stable version of RSSOwl.
Please help!
I tried by sourceforge under the link by removing the DevTest part but there seem to be no stable version and here also.
Is there any idea when the newest DevTest version will get final portable?
I need a new small rss reader as FeedReader seem not work anymore.
I get only one feed updated or none.
And I don't want to try a tool that's version 0.19 and needs 100mb by itself.
Thanks in advance!
i help where i can! maybe you can help (me) too! see in my account under 'track' for my conservations/threads. be nice!
if you don't want to help, don't post crap!
As an unofficial app, it has no connection directly to me or to the site. You'd need to ask in the thread. I'll look into seeing about it becoming official at some point, too.
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
@John T. Haller
Youn mean the thread here or somewhere at the sourceforge?
Edit:
The one here would be: https://portableapps.com/node/55547
Would be very nice to get it released as it seems to be good and actual.
The last test or posting is three years old.
Edit:
Just read it once again. I think you mean I should ask for it in the thread here.
But I am not good hope as the two useres were here last time one and three years ago.
