How to install it?!

Please, explain me how to install it? How? How can I install it?
How? Please, write short , clear and understandable step-by-step guide.
Why do you think , all will have x:\ path? Why do you think all world will install first time?
I remember I so hard installed version 10 over version 1.6, here I asked for help. And now again I got porridge. All my folders are in a tangle. How to install this software? From within old platform version 10 like other apps? Or I have to start it like windows setup.exe file from windows explorer? I remember how long time I guessed what to do, asked for help in this forum. I could find my old posts here.
If I started from windows explorer what destination have I to point? I have pointed to my old installed platform and have failed! Now I have mixed folders. My old platform is located c:\sdjds sdfj \jkfdsk sdfkljn \ sdfjk sdf ssddddw2\ PortableApps\ not x:\
What path I have to ponit? c:\sdjds sdfj \jkfdsk sdfkljn \ sdfjk sdf ssddddw2\ PortableApps\
Or c:\sdjds sdfj \jkfdsk sdfkljn \ sdfjk sdf ssddddw2\ ? which folder? I have pointed wrong place! And I have mixed folders..
If I will install in new place then I have to reinstall all my old apps again? Or it is enough to move old "PortableApps\PortableApps" folder? It is so simple so obvious user will face this problems. Please , post instruction in in main page if this forum. Please, explain how to reinstall if user has old previous version of the platform with installed apps. This guide is for new user with flash card.

Installing the PortableApps.com Platform or Suite

To install the PortableApps.com Platform or Suite, just download the installer for the version you'd like from the PortableApps.com Platform and Suite homepage and run it. It's best to install it right to the root directory of your portable drive (X:\ where X is the drive letter). It'll take anywhere from 1 to 20 minutes depending on the edition you select (Platform Only, Light or Standard) and the speed of your drive.

But the user does not need such guide, it is understandable even for little baby. Existing users need a guide. Excuse me, I am very infuriated.

Upgrade

The best way to upgrade is from within your old platform as it will download and install the new one automatically.

If you want to download it manually and upgrade by running the installer, point it to the directory containing your Start.exe, Documents folder and PortableApps folder for your existing installation. So, if you have all your portable apps in X:\Long\Path\To\PortableApps, you'd install the platform to X:\Long\Path\To. Make sense?

If you already have multiple installations, you can move your apps from one PortableApps directory to the other. All our apps are written to allow you to move them between paths without losing your data. A few apps will have a few minor bits reset when you do this (your download queue in uTorrent and qBittorrent for instance).

We recommend installing to X:\ on any drive (even C:\ works) as then the portable app installers will automatically find the platform as they look for X:\PortableApps across all drives on your system. You can also install to %USERPROFILE% and the installers will find %USERPROFILE%\PortableApps automatically as well. If you're downloading apps using the built-in app store and updater or installing an app manually via the Apps submenu, though, the point is moot as they will automatically install to the correct place.

If you have any other questions, just ask.

thank you for response

Now I cannot upgrade , because I have broken my existing platform with installed apps.
I am going to install clean installation.
Can I installed apps just to move (relocate) into new platform folder? ?
Or I have to install every app?

You can move the apps.

Was it possible to transfer

Was it possible to transfer app name changes in old platform by manually moving apps to the new platform?

I lost all my additional notes to app names.

I still remember upgrading from 1.6 version 10 version was catastrophic. And now again I have faced disaster.

Always The Same

Upgrading has always been the same and never loses data. You just install over the old version. But you have to install to the same place. Generally this is the root of your drive. If you installed elsewhere, just be sure to pick the directory with Start.exe in it (StartPortableApps.exe in the very old versions).

And since v10 the updater has handled upgrades automatically, as explained above: https://portableapps.com/node/34667#comment-199246

Just let the platform do it for you.

I have pointed wrong folder

I have pointed wrong folder during installing the old version. It is not clear where to point. As result I got mixed folders. (When upgrading from 1.6 version to 10 I have faced the same problems.)
In the platform ver.10 my app names were little changed ((browser), (reader), (audio editor), etc).
After clean installing the platform and moving apps from old platform folder I got native app names(without my additional explanations)

Auto-Upgrade

For future reference, PLEASE use the updater within the platform. It eliminates all possibility of pointing anything in the wrong place and has been the recommended way to upgrade since its introduction last year.

If you still have your copy of the old platform, all your renamings are stored in your PortableApps\PortableApps.com\Data\PortableAppsMenu.ini file. You can copy it from one platform install to another and it will remember any renamings, favorites, hidden apps or recategorizations you've done. Just please backup first in case your aim of moving files is off.
