PA 10.0.1 hotkey?

I must be missing something here... But what is the new hotkey in PA 10.0.1? It used to be win+alt+space, but that doesn't work anymore. Is there a place where I can set or enable some hotkey? Thanks.

Ctrl+Alt+Space

It was changed because some systems were forbidding registration of hotkeys with the Windows key. The hotkey is not currently configurable.

Is it configgable in 10.2

Is it configgable in 10.2 then?

When you say "currently", you're making a note about the future, so I'm still sort of expecting it.

Future

It will be configurable in a future release. If you don't see it mentioned in the changelog, it's not yet configurable. To be configurable, we need a GUI for it, which means we need translations, which means we need to do a public beta and have translators have time to update their translations. None of that happened for 10.2 which was a quick bugfix release with the new incremental updater and some minor non-translation enhancements.

Setting to disable the hotkey altogether?

How about a setting in e.g. PortableAppsMenu.ini to disable the hotkey altogether? In a typical IDE there are lots of shortcuts that involve Ctrl Alt & Space (esp. Ctrl + Space, which is the shortcut for auto-completion), so every now & then I hit the hotkey and PortableApps pops up. Since it 's annoying & I don't use the hotkey at all, it would be nice if I'd be able to disable it. Adding a boolean setting to an .ini file will do, I don't mind if there 's no GUI to configure it. So...will you please consider this? Smile

Nah, not a disable option.

Nah, not a disable option. First of all, it's confusing if you have to enable an option to disable something. Secondly, the hoteky should be configurable. I for one, want the win+space combination back. Yes, windows uses it to peek at the desktop, but I never use it. Another person like you may want another hotkey.

It's not very much in the spirit of portableapps I think, to either enable an arbitrary hotkey combination, or disable it alltogether. Configurable is always better for software like this.

Already planned

Under known/confirmed issues, you'll see that it's already planned to implement that change: https://portableapps.com/node/28593

Some Issues

As noted, the option to configure it is coming but will require translation. So, we'll likely have it as part of 12.0 which will require a few betas and a few rounds of translation.

I'm not sure if apps can use WIN as system wide shortcuts at all anymore starting with Windows 7. When I tried to register them programatically using the same code that used to work on Windows XP on Windows 7, it failed. And, according to Microsoft's documentation, WIN is reserved for system hotkeys only starting with Windows 7. Or did this change?
