Some Problems after Upgrading Thunderbird Portable 15.0 to 16.0.1 "Update could not....."

Hi all,
i'm from Germany and use Thunderbird Portable since 2.1.6
In the past, all updates done without any Problems, but now "Update 16.0.1" dont want to upgrad my TB Portable.

The Error means one or more Processes blocked the Upgrading.
I still rebooted my PC 5 times, same Error.

Following the Error displays:

Softwareupdate failed! (Softwareupdate fehlgeschlagen (in German))

The Update couldn't installed. Please be sure, no other Processes are active on this Computer. Please restart Thunderbird to try another Test.

in German:
Das Update konnte nicht installiert werden. Bitte stellen Sie sicher, dass keine weiteren Prozesse von Thunderbird auf diesem Computer aktiv sind. Starten Sie Thunderbird dann neu, um es erneut zu versuchen.

I still using Thunderbird Portable and when i start the error displays.
Good: i can still use TB Portable, but the Error still sucks!

What can i do?

I tried to download new the Update 16.0.1 and to reinstall the TB Update, but same Errors.

In the Help Section in TB Portable on "ABOUT" displaying:

Thunderbird
16.0.1
To use the Application please restart Thunderbird.

Can anyone help me please In German or in Englisch Language.

Sincerely
Marc Zinner (Germany)

Updated

It's likely been updated but something in the profile is telling it it has not finished the restart. I can't recall offhand, but close TB and browse to your ThunderbirdPortable\Data\profile folder and look for something amiss. Something like a lock file that shouldn't be there or an update file or subdirectory that is indicating it is not done updating.

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!

I've tried all what you type,

I've tried all what you type, but nothing helps.
I have delete parent.lock, nothing better.
I have uninstalled some Plug-Ins and Add-ons, nothing better.

Same Error.

Anything else....

Please help!

Update Problem Thunderbird 16.0.1

Hi all,
I have been running into the same problem. Meanwhile I found a solution that works for me.
See http://kb.mozillazine.org/Software_Update:
"If the problem continues, you can manually reset the Software Update feature by closing your Mozilla application and deleting the "updates" folder and the two files "active-update.xml" and "updates.xml",...."

The files are located in C:\Users\Christoph\AppData\Local\Thunderbird\thunderbird

Regards,
Christoph
