Just a hint: this version (3.0.7.0) is missing the possibility to just copy audio streams during video encoding. People who need that feature (like me) should go back to or stay with version 3.0.6.7. I went back to 3.0.6.7 after noticing this.
I do not know if this is intended by the author. I doubt it.
Prapper, maybe you could still offer the portable launcher for 3.0.6.7?
Just letting you know that for me (XP Pro SP3 - English [Australian]), computer and PA both set to English,
the XMedia Recode Portable License Agreement is German. The text box/window is in English though.
Just ran the installer, while the installer connects to the Internet (to download the necessary files)PeerBlockPortable 1.1 blocked the connection and shows the following information...
Hi David, not sure I can help you here. Everything is clean at this end. The address you've given is German, same as the app, so maybe there's something going on there? Anybody else having a problem?
Just tried 3.2.0.2, every time try to convert a small audio .wtv test file to .wav the application closes as soon 'Encode' is selected.
After much experimentation discovered, in XMediaRecodePortable.ini launcher, commenting out
[FilesMove] settings\XMediaRecode.ini=%PAL:AppDir%\XMediaRecode
or setting Portable=0 in XMediaRecode.ini allows successful media conversions without force close.
Of course this is not an idea solution since then the application is no longer portable, with files being written to C:\Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming
Do you have any suggestions?
Thank you for your time,
Not at the moment I'm afraid (I can convert to wav here without issue). I would suggest testing with the previous version but that wouldn't explain why the problem is resolved in local mode, which does point to a portabalisation problem. Sorry not to be of more help.
This is a protected path, with write access restricted to admin.
Setting RunAsAdmin=force (not ideal of course, unless necessary) fixes the issue, as does (in XMedia Recode) setting Output: to 'Input folder', or other destination.
Hope this is helpful,
David
PS: Tests performed on a clean install of Windows 7 x64

Oh, o.k., I did not know that. Thanks for sharing.
I searched with Google and DuckDuckGo and found nothing about XMedia Recod abusing the GPL.

Great, thanks.

Prapper, there is a version 3.0.7.6 already because 3.0.7.4 contains a fundamental flaw in that it limits video size to 16x16 pixels
The problem of the audio stream being unable to be copied was fixed in 3.0.7.4 though.
I don't think that's the only fundamental flaw here somehow.

Not sure I'd class that as a bug to be honest...

sorry about that - I'm going to blame a lack of morning coffee for that

Just discovered the source of the problem.
Initial output path is set as C:\

OK, thanks. I'll see what I can do to avoid that scenario in the next update.
