Unable to run apps from menu

Hi,

After having to send my laptop to be repaired, I dug out my old PortableApps USB drive so that I can use whatever Windows PC that I have available to me.

I haven|t used my old PortableApps drive for a couple of years or so, but had never experienced any problems with it.

Now however, on the first PC that I plug my drive into, I am unable to launch any of my apps from the start menu. I can access my folders, and files from the PortableApps menu (but the back and several of the "Manage Apps" options also don't work).

The only way to open any of my apps is to go directly to the applications folder and double click on the .exe file (this is of course a slightly long winded method of doing it).

I did think that perhaps something had gone wrong with PortableApps itself, so I did a fresh install with the latest version, with exactly the same results.

Any ideas as to what's going wrong? Does it sound like a problem with PortableApps, or the host computer (if the latter what should I look for?).

Thanks in advance for any help in attempting to fix this.

When you say you did a fresh

When you say you did a fresh install, was this to the same location as the previous platform, or to an entirely new location?

If it was not to a new location I would try that first.

I reformatted the USB drive,

I reformatted the USB drive, then ran the PortableApps installer, installing the platform in the root directory... I assume that that was the same location as before.

I've just tried installing into a new location on the drive (along with a couple of apps), and it didn't make any difference... I still can't open anything from the main menu.

If you reformatted first, it

If you reformatted first, it is essentially the same thing. It just rules out something corrupted within the Platform files that would not have been updated with a reinstall.

If you have access to the local drive of your current PC, or to another USB drive, it would be worth testing an installation of the Platform there. This would determine if it is physical corruption of your current USB drive.
