Some images not displaying...

Noticing a very strange behavior with FirefoxPortable_16.0.1_English. Some random images are simply not displaying. For example, the little youtube logo in the upper left corner of youtube.com. Its just not there. Other sites are missing random images too, while others display just fine. The sites look great in Chrome, and I have tried reinstalling a fresh copy of ff portable to make sure all the settings are default, still have the missing images.

Any idea what this could be?

*I just tried right clicking and saving the youtube logo. It saves as a gif, but its blank/empty. So odd...

I assume you are running on a computer with filters on? At my school, the Google logo will not show until I visit images.google.com and select "ok to view".

No filters that i am aware of... you mean like antivirus/netnanny? Or built into firefox? I use chrome as my main browser, and everything displays just fine.

Ok this is nuts. I just did a fresh install of firefox portable (17.0) on a second computer. Go to youtube.com. The youtube logo is not displaying (among other images). Both computers I have tested on use comodo firewall (free version), but that doesnt do any web filtering. Both are also using windows security essentials, but I dont THINK that does web filtering either.

So youre telling me if you download and install a fresh firefox portable 17.0, you can see the youtube logo just fine on your end?

What on earth could be causing this!?

*again, chrome works fine on both machines.

Running WSE

I'm running Windows Security Essentials on one of the boxes I mentioned. It works fine. I'd suggest temporarily disabling Comodo and seeing what's what.

Figured it out! It was the WINDOWS THEME! I'm running win7, and I use a custom windows theme (for darker / easier on the eyes windows). I just set it back to the default windows 7 theme, opened firefox portable, and everything displays fine. Then I switched back to my custom theme, opened a new tab, hit youtube.com, and the logo was once again missing!

Can anyone else confirm they get odd behavior when using custom windows themes? Is this a known issue? All I did was change the color of the window/bars ect...

I am using a custom theme (with custom colors for all the windows, menu bars etc). Is anyone else using such a custom theme (NOT the built in win7 themes)? There is no way I am the only one getting this problem, I tested on two different machines...

Custom Theme

As I said in my above reply, I'm tried it with a custom theme on Win7 and it worked just fine. Keep in mind that some custom themes are buggy and can affect apps like Firefox that nuild their custom app chrome off the theme.

No

This is the only time I've ever heard of it. I'd wager you have a buggy custom theme. As custom theming isn't supported by the OS itself, I'd wager that a bug report wouldn't be accepted anyway.
