I'm looking for a simple way of synchronizing bookmarks from Firefox installed on PC and from portable one. I googled it and all these fancy programs came up where you can make bookmarks accessible via FTP etc. All I want is just with one click make the bookmarks on portable and normal Firefox be the same.
google browser sync.
It does bookmarks, cookies, saved passwords etc - it's great! Easy to set up and works like a charm!
I love google browser sync, personally, but it writes to the drive a *lot*. Not good for flash drive life. So I use Foxmarks for bookmarks, GBS for everything else, and just keep GBS disabled on my portable version most of the time.
Besides, GBS doesn't let you be logged in at two locations at once, so if you leave your browser on at home, it will log you out when you log in with your portable, and sometimes the changes don't get updated properly when that happens. Foxmarks doesn't have that problem.
I didn't realise that... Thanks for letting me know!
I manage all 5 copies (local, 4 portables) very easily. Just download the Firefox
Bookmark Extension .084 on each copy. You will have to establish an account on the
Foxmarks server which will be your base copy; I use my local copy. Then you can
upload to the server to change your base copy any time and download on
each of the portables. I do not use the auto synch on Foxmarks but customize instead
and either download or upload when I choose. It is a wonderfully easy and helpful
extension.
I like prefer Yahoo Bookmarks and the Yahoo Companion addin.
Works like a dream.
