PLEASE HELP

I love the idea of the portable apps platform, but honestly, after three days of using it and trying to get it to work I've had a horrible experience . It's just been a horrible buggy mess. The platform crashes constantly, apps wont load, I've had to re-install like 5 times, sometimes I had to install then reformat and re-install because it didn't install correctly. Basically everything that could go wrong has. So I was wondering if this is a typical experience for this app or is there something I'm doing horribly wrong. I'm downloading the suite and all the portable apps from this site to a Toshiba Satellite and then loading everything to a Dane-Elec 4GB flash drive. Any info would be greatly appreciated. I really want to get this working. Thanks.

Likely Drive Issue

If you're having issues across multiple apps and the platform, there's likely something amiss in your setup. Usually, this is either a hardware problem or an OS/malware problem. If the PC itself is fully stable and all apps on it are stable, it's more than likely a hardware issue. This could be an issue with the PC's USB ports or, more likely, an issue with the flash drive itself.

The easiest way to rule out the PC is to temporarily install the PA.c Platform on your local PC. You can install it to C:\ directly or to your Desktop directory to try it and several apps out. Once that works, try installing it to a different USB flash drive and try it out.

There are millions of folks using PortableApps.com every day. So, this is certainly not typical. Start with what I posted above and we'll determine the root cause.

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!

Wow, thanks for the quick

Wow, thanks for the quick response. I'll try installing the PA.c to the C:/ drive and post the results.

OK, I installed the platform

OK, I installed the platform to my C:\ drive and got a couple apps to test it. Everything seemed to work fine. So I grabbed a different flash drive, same size and manufacturer but not the one I had been using before, and I put it in a different usb port. I downloaded a few apps and put them on the new drive and tested it. Everything seems to work fine. So maybe it was just the drive or the port like you mentioned before. But I do have one other concern, last time I had tried putting other portable apps that weren't downloaded from this site on the drive, is it possible that other portable apps might conflict with the PA.c platform and cause problems? Or should I be able to use portable apps not available through PortableApps.com with the platform?

You can

You can use the platform with other apps too. Just put them into a folder inside the PortableApps folder and the menu will pick it up. A more elaborate text can be found here.
