Hi,
First post so I hope I get it right....
Program: Open Hardware Monitor
License: Open Source/MPL
Description: A hardware monitor for motherboard, CPU, memory and Hard drives. Shows temp, usage, power, etc.
Website: http://openhardwaremonitor.org/
Other: Runs from its own self contained folder. Does not need to be installed.
Cheers,
Barry.
I'll take a look at it and see if I can get it working as a portable app.
Update: I built a functioning version of the app, but I'm going to wait to hear back from the developer before I release it for testing. I'll post here again when I get an answer (hopefully a yes along with the dev test page).
finally someone took the innitiative to get this going i have waited a long time for this
i hope it is a yes
i'm not wierd, i'm just different
Did you get an answer?
The verdict is still out sadly. I think contacting them so close to the holiday season was a bad idea. If I don't hear back soon, I will post the version I have, and I won't even remotely ask for official status until I get an answer. I think that's a good compromise.
If it is under an open source licence as the original request states and the licence allows repackaging/redistribution then you do not need permission. Just go ahead and post it.
I'm 99% sure that it is, so I'll check on it and if so, post it as soon as I'm back at my normal computer. Thanks again winterblood.
According to their license page, Open Hardware Monitor is released under the Mozilla Public License 2.0 (MPL-2.0), which is one of the recognized licenses according to the OSI.
So you're good to post!
Still, it never hurts to tell the developers that you're distributing a PA.c pacakge of their product, as they tend to like to know, but there's no obligation to tell them, nor can they refuse to let you redistribute.
Are there problems or why don't you release it? It's a really great program and need to be in PortableApps.
No problems with it, I'm just not on the computer I actually packaged it on, so I can't upload it to Sourceforge yet. Holiday travel has thrown off a lot. Give me a day or so and I should have a page and everything for it.
I didn't know, I really appreciate your work though. My intention was to keep the project alive
I got back home and took the time to put the package up on the internet for all to test. The PA.c page resides here, so thanks for waiting on me to get this out. Test, and have fun!
