PicPick - how to save custom color_or what's 3rd row of empty color squares

PicPick portable 3.2.1 in Vista x64. Can't figure out how to save custom colors - either to the 3rd row of (blank) color sample squares, on main UI; or in the color palate, where, just like in Windows desktop personalization, it allows to click a blank square for custom colors, then choose custom color, then save as custom color.

If use color picker in PicPick, it will put the color in the selected foreground / background color box, depending on if R or L click, once hover over a color. But see no way to save a custom color like that, in one of the blank 3rd row color squares.

If R click of selected fore / back ground color, opens the color palate, where you can select & save a custom color. But (in portable, at least), when come back to the palate, those colors aren't saved. Even though go thru same steps of creating & saving a custom color in the palate, used in tons of prgms.

Nor do I see how to put any colors into the 3rd row of color squares - by any method. 3rd row is blank / white. They are active, because if click the foreground color box, then one of the blank / white 3rd row boxes, it changes the foreground color to white. Unless it's a bug, what's point of having 10 white color squares that can't be changed?

Read a one liner that you can save custom colors, but so far no details.
Thanks.

Double-Click

You can double-click on the swatches to change their color to a custom one. They get saved automatically when you exit the app.

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!

Thanks. Well, that was

Thanks. Well, that was easy.
Other thing about the background "active" selected color. Can't change it the same way as foreground (where just click the foreground box & select color from preset samples).

If you R or L click on background color box, it just opens one of the 2 color palates. Now, you can 1st pick a preset color for the foreground, then use the "swap colors" for fore / back ground. Then choose another for foreground. Maybe that's the only way to change background to 1 of 12 preset colors, but seems bit odd.

Don't know why you can't just click it the same as foreground color, then select one of the presets.

Right Click

Just right click on one of the colors in the palette and it becomes the background color. Left click for fore, right for back.

Thanks again. I wish these

Thanks again. I wish these were in the Help Manu.... oh, wait... there's not one!
I'll have to write these steps down. Righty tighty, lefty loosey.

I can't see the other poster's name right now, but I , "as you can in Windows color palate." The FIRST time I tried to save custom colors in PP's color palate, they didn't stick. I could've made a mistake, but did it > once. Don't know what happened.

NOTE: before a custom color will be saved in the palate, you must click on an empty (or any) of the boxes, where you want to save it. If you don't click on a box BEFORE defining the color -then click "add to custom colors," it won't save it. Kinda odd. But... that wasn't my problem the 1st time - it was just "messed up."

After closing / restarting PP, custom colors created in the palate WERE saved - just like in Windows palate. One of those things. Maybe I'd been messing w/ colors too much & PP just needed restarting.

And yes, now that I know the secret handshake on getting custom colors into the 3rd row of empty boxes, they are saved. I just couldn't figure how to get any in there.

saving of custom colors impossible

Indeed you can't save a custom color. This applies both to the portable and the installed version. Normally a custom color is defined by the color palette. For this you would have to first open the window of the color palette. In this window is located below the 2 rows of white squares a button named "color define". Since this button is grayed out and can not be activated, accordingly you will be unable to add a custom color. The only chance for you is, when you report this issue to the publisher via email. Therefore I recommend you to report this issue to the publisher via email.

Already Works

The double-click method above already works fine and saves between sessions. We're talking about the color palette in the upper right of the editor screen. Not the Windows color palette.

No

I know, that you're talking about the color palette in the upper right of the of the the editor screen. But the member christina a reported the following issue:

And exactly on this problem I have referred in my reply.

Misunderstanding

Indeed you've right. If I double-click on one of the white squares in the 3rd row of the color palette in the upper right of the editor screen, then it's really possible to change the color permanently.
