I'm voting for something that might allow changes to Fx while running locally to be copied back to the flash drive it was launched from. The main computer I use FxP on has USB1.1, so I run locally. However, when I find an extension I'd like to install or whatnot, I have to close it, run from the flash drive to install, then relaunch locally. Is it possible to have the profile and/or data folders copied back to the flash drive when a locally run Fx is terminated?
I have 1.1 and it works fast enough for me.

This isn't exactly what you asked for but it is a solution to the same problem. I have one copy of Firefox Portable installed on my local hard drive and an identical copy on my USB flash drive. I use Firefox Portable at home on the local hard drive and when I am away from home I run it off the USB drive. Whenever I get home or before I leave home I sync the directories with Microsoft SyncToy (free download.) This tool copies the most recently changed files to both directories. This way I can add extensions and bookmarks wherever I want and it will propagate correctly to my other device.

That looks like it may work nicely for my application since it's a pretty open-access work computer that has the slow USB port. It might not solve the issue for others with the same issue on a work machine though, as they would likely not be able to install that program.
