Not where I'd install libreoffice portable

Notice install path is in your my documents folder .... would be more likely to work OK if installing to C:/PortableApps/

Path Too Long

You exceeded Windows' maximum path length. In Windows XP, the maximum length of a path is approximately 256 characters. The 50 extra characters of \Documents and Settings\administrator\My Documents is putting things over the top. LibreOffice itself has very long paths internally.

LibreOffice internal paths are ridiculously long!

I like to keep my portable apps on dropbox so that I can access them wherever I am without having to remember my USB drive. However this necessarily makes the paths to all apps a lot longer than they would be if they were installed at root level in a USB drive. But I have not had any problems except for LibreOffice. My current solution is to install it to a folder called "LO" (for LibreOffice) instead of "LibreOfficePortable" thereby saving 17 letters and allowing it to work!

The problem with this solution is that the automatic update feature no longer works and you have to download and install updates manually when they become available.

So I am sincerely hoping that one of the LibreOffice guys will eventually discover portable apps and dropbox, find that it doesn't work, and fix their ridiculously verbose folder structure!

DropBox location

DropBox's default location used to be stupidly long on XP. C:\Documents and Settings\username\My Documents\My Dropbox On Windows Vista and up in the current DropBox incarnation, it's C:\Users\username\Dropbox. For the latter, installing there works just fine. But if you're on XP and have the old Dropbox default structure, it'll be too long.
