This release updates GIMP to the latest version. The GIMP Portable Photoshop Layout add-on is also available. It's packaged in PortableApps.com Format so it can easily integrate with the PortableApps.com Platform. Best of all, it's open source and completely free.

Features

ScreenshotThe GIMP (GNU Image Manipulation Program) is a freely distributed program for such tasks as photo retouching, image composition and image authoring. It has many capabilities. The GIMP Portable Photoshop Layout

ScreenshotAs seen in the screenshot, the GIMP Portable Photoshop Layout changes the layout of the right-hand toolbox and enables GIMP's single window mode to more closely approximate the layout of Adobe Photoshop, making GIMP easier to use for users already familiar with that layout.

PortableApps.com Installer / PortableApps.com Format

GIMP Portable is packaged in a PortableApps.com Installer so it will automatically detect an existing PortableApps.com installation when your drive is plugged in. It's packaged in the PortableApps.com Format, so it automatically works with the PortableApps.com Platform including the Menu and Backup Utility.

The developers of GIMP provide an installer to install documentation which is supposed to be displayed when Help (F1) or Context Help (Shift-F1) is selected. The installer prompts for a location to install to, but installing it to the main folder that GIMP portable resides in does not allow it to work as designed. Anybody know if there's a location I can move it to that will allow it to work?

Also, I'm guessing this might also be the case with other portable apps here, but the version history for GIMP specified for GIMP at https://portableapps.com/support/gimp_portable#version_history is only updated to v2.2.15 (June 19, 2007).

We don't currently make available an offline help installer. GIMP automatically supports online help of the exact same files.

We don't update version history for anything except the platform any longer.

I was only asking if you knew if I could use the developer's own offline help installer, and install to a particular location so that it would work with the portable version. The good news is, I've now discovered the answer is yes! Other users who are interested in this should install the offline help here:

Ah, I was unaware. Doesn't that add an "Uninstall GIMP Help" entry to the local add/remove programs, though?

As a matter of fact, as far as I can tell it does not -- although it does also drop uninstall data and an executable into the folder you install it to. I've actually installed the offline help on my machine's hard drive (after installing the non-portable version of GIMP there as well), and there is no entry in my add/remove programs list specifically for the help. That's how I figured out where to put the offline help files for the portable version, by the way, and I then just copied them over to the corresponding folder on the flash drive.
