apps

We normally only make existing apps portable. Creating these apps is more work than we can do, especially if it is about something as difficult/impossible as giving someone admin rights by use of an app.

sorry possible hacker tool

i see the windows admin possibly being a hacker tool

but it is a cool idea if it were a probable program then it might be made into a portable app but until it made into a program we won't know for sure

i'm not wierd, i'm just different

windows account app???!!!!

it sounds cool but it might put the PC into stress because it would have to add a account then delete it. also there is the problem of wheree the save files go

the program would have to mess with the registry

and we here at portable apps try to minimize registry entries

so it might not happen

it won't happen here anyway

u might want to try creating these apps ur self

then posting the results

cause u got me thinking that i do

i'm not wierd, i'm just different

simply curious

how can be admin right given when there is no admin right?

Admin right is given when the proper user name and password is entered.
If it is not, the windows has the task to prevent any software to gain admin rights while windows is running.
Changing this requires to gain access to the part of the registry which is not accessible to any software except it already has admin rights...

The idea might work on w98 well ( :-))) ), but on w7 or w8?

only way

is to reset the password of one of the admin users, then enter the admin part of the system and change things there.
However this is not reversible, so you can do it only one time and will probably be banned from this computer for future.

MS is not that stupid to make such things possible. And if someone discovers that it can be done, next update will close the hole again.

Interesting Idea, but not likely; Try one (or more) of these:

Sorry, but that doesn't seem likely to happen, because (as ottosykora pointed out) it would have to have admin rights to add/remove the user account, and if you had admin rights, you would already have admin rights, rendering this app rather unnecessary.

The three closest solutions you're likely to find are:

1: a Windows installation placed on a FlashDrive
Haven't tried it but USBoot looks fairly easy, if you can't make it work by directly installing to your FlashDrive.
2: a virtual Windows account
Like MojoPac but it looks pretty dead now (If you're resourceful you can find some old installers for it, but IDK if they'll work since IIRC you had to have an account to use it back when it was still available)
3: a Portable Virtual Machine with Windows installed
This one should work, but you'll have to set it up yourself: OS Launcher Portable

Whatever route you choose to pursue, I hope you have fun with it. Wink

the only problem with installing

the only problem is with installing a os on a usb is that the usb could fail

with the app i may make it would run a app at pc boot with usb plugged in so that it virtualizes a admin acct without using the computer hard drive

i have a program that reset's passwords on a computer and it shows where the accounts lie

so i will get back soon to see if my app works

it may take months

i don't

i don't have a reason to make a more complicated app

i just think that it would be a cool trial run to see if i could do it

and no the computer is not going to be hacked just virtualizing a admin account but it wouldn't allow the program to be used multiple times within a certain time period

the program i use is basically a bootable version of a program already in windows but it can be used if the account that u need to change the password for is locked or safe mode can't fix the issue

i had used it on my windows 7 starter netbook because my account is a admin account but i tried to make it secure but upon rebooting i had forgot the password

my account is also the only admin account on the computer and i can't access the built in admin account because it is windows starter and it does not provide that capability

the program i hope to make will basically only use a alternate type of built in admin account it would not allow network access so it could not be used for hacking

also the limited use capability would be a preventable measure to keep the usb from crashing or messing up

also i might allow it to be installed on a cd like a linux live cd

in essence it would basically be a protable safe mode program that would be customized to the os it will be used on. so multiple copies would be used for problematic windows home networks where all computers are different versions of windows

You know... Mean? I was wondering if I can't get a app to add rights to the account I'm on while my flash drive is plugin to the computer or If I can get a app to promote the account.I don't mean over the network but just the. It can't be done for modern

It can't be done for modern Windows.

To give admin rights you already need to have admin rights, there is no way to give a limited user admin privileges without an admin password.

Follow the process

Have your principal write to the person(s) that pay the salary of your network manager and tell them that you have printers that need to be added. That's how the process works.

Can someone make this portable for us or find another program like it that's portable?

Thanks.

no software needed

for this you do not need any special software at all.
You simply log on as admin and that is it.

If you know the password for one of the administrators, you can use this 'software' sure.
But in that case you can also log on as admin, or run a program as admin from context menu.

Pls understand that what you want does not exist and can not be done as devs of the operating system spent millions on the fact that it is not possible and will take big care that the security of the operating system is maintained. If some hackers will find a way to bypass this, patch will be issued asap to close the hole again.

BTW: this 'program' is fully portable already, so no need to do anything more. It is useful on XP, not so much on w7 as the only admin it knows is called Administrator and this is not exactly you want when running w7.

The only way to run that .bat file (it is nothing more then that) so it can do what it should, is to 'run as' one of the admin users.
The bat file can be edited to enter one of the real admin members and not Administrator. So here you need to know the name and password of one of the admins. The bat file will then set you as one of the admins and will again ask you the password. Then red cmd prompt will appear to warn you that all you type in now is under admin privileges.

You can copy it to your usb and use it, read the supplied instruction first.

So once more:
you can not gain admin rights if you do not have them already!

You Can't

You can not use admin on a computer you don't know the admin password for without hacking it or resetting the admin password on the machine. This is not only illegal, but could easily get you suspended or expelled. If the machine uses a domain, you likely can't even do that.

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
