I've been looking for something like this.
I'll test it out.
Thank you for testing it. It seems not that many people have taken an interest in it. I will try and keep it updated but there hasn't been a new version of this app since late 2007
iLike Macs, iPwn, However you put it... Apple is better ^_^
"Claiming that your operating system is the best in the world because more people use it is like saying McDonalds makes the best food in the world..."
As far as it working, I haven't had any problems. I can't speak for the PAF compatibility. I use this program at work, so it's really nice having a portable version of it.
Thanks!
Your welcome
I have been trying to figure out how to set that up myself so I can turn on my comp from my house in Vermont. But I can't find my out my Mac Address to my computer
And powerjuce thank you and thanks to Patrick also.

All you have to do is this. On the computer in question goto start->run->type cmd->type ipconfig /all. Find the adapter conntected to the internet (you may only have one) and it'll tell you your mac address. This is assuming you are running windows xp. For vista do the same except search for cmd in your search box in the start menu.
and patrick i can check for PAF conformidness so u dont hav 2
Please search before posting. ~Thanks
In the App dir- rename IH Wake On LAN to ihwakeonlan
- In the App\AppInfo dir
- You have a readme there i dont think you need it
- Also your icon meets the requirements for the 256 colors but now you also need the xp colors(so ur half way there!!!)
- In the appinfo.ini
-
-
-
- You appinfo.ini version should be 0.9.8 not 0.9.9
actually add a description
add a catogory as well
Make this a little more user friendly(that is why we have it)
In the Other dir- In your Other\source dir
- You have a file called ReadMeNow which needs to be deleted
- Your entire ReadMe is about Sumtra PDF.(take a look at any release to get the proper design for the readme)
- In the readme make the this line
- You are missing an appsource.txt look at any release to see what it contains
- Your code looks great, just remember to add the change in the $EXESTRING because u changed the app path
- You also have a splash fade of '10' after the 1000 on line 165 that you can change to 0.
into this:
In the main dir- Your help.html needs a little more info, add a link to the (original)site and an faq or forum that they may or may not have. Also change the link for
IH Wake On LANPortable Thread.
to the actual thread that you are using for the projectThat is all I could find, when you release again i will check again
Please search before posting. ~Thanks
I thought I got all the readme's (I originally used digitxp's template). Guess not. I will fix all that stuff as soon as I can. I will probably need some help with the icons though (neorame will you help me?). And also I will eventually need to get the high res icon for the splash screen (neorame again? ). I might have a little trouble getting it out though. I have a term paper to do and regular homework also
Thanks for the tips,
Bensawsome

To prevent the name of the app your using as a base for your new app appear in files, use one of the two "Cloning Cleanup" tips here:

All right! not the best implementation of WoL on the web, but it works for small-scale stuff. So far, running no problems, haven't checked if any files left behind yet though

i love this app and is it your app? if so is it possible to have a switch off command.
Atlantis
Nope its not my app. But do you mean by switch off it turns the computer off?
Thanks,
Bensawsome

yes i mean turn the computer off
Atlantis
Well, It's called "Wake On LAN" for a reason, not "Sleep On LAN". WOL uses a "magic packet" to start a machine via it's network card. I don't think there's such a thing a "SOL" (except the ".... outta luck" saying ).
There are other Windows tools out there to remotely turn off computers on a LAN, namely the Computer Manager (not portable though, but is installed on all Windows machines usually)
Start --> Run --> compmgmt.msc --> {Enter}
You could also look into using SNMP to turn computers off.

Thanks! I've been looking for a program similar to this, and a portable version would be excellent.
It will be a while before I can actually set up and test this, but I just wanted you to know that I'm interested in it.
I just had to register and say thanks for this. I'll save a lot of energy not to leave my home computer on but still have access to it.
Thanks!
Reid
Could be useful, but I'm lucky enough to own a WRT54GL with the Tomato firmware
I just SSH into it and use the ether-wake command to WOL my PC
I'll try it out anyway
Searched for my computer.
Hostname 113.220.205.155 D8-D3-65-11-13-04
Physical Address. . . . . . . . . : 78-E7-D1-82-0B-44

OS: Windows 7 64bit
Maybe this application doesnt work with windows 64bit. but as you can see it has returned my IP address backwards. and hasnt got the correct MAC address. so the program will not be able to send the magic WOL packet
I got connection timeout.
is 5 years old, and not updated since. It's probably safe to assume it's no longer being maintained by the original poster. Sorry...
