Blender 2.66 Portable - x86 or x64 ?

A short question.
Is the offered version of Blender x86 or x64.
If x86, may it be possible to add x64 version, too ?

Thanks for helpful reply.

regards, Bytehunter

Built, Unreleased

I built it for the 2.66 version but opted against it. Adding in x64 as a dual mode app tripled the size of the app taking it from around 95MB installed to something like 280MB installed. Since it was such a bad size penalty, I opted to release it as x86 only.

Thx

Well, sad to hear that, because a 3D Modelling Software in x86 makes (in my case) no sense on a quad-core machine with 16GB RAM.
But I understand your decision and for me it's no problem to take the installer from Blender Website.
My aim is to use as much as possible portable software on my PC
just to avoid the ballast on the OS due to installing.

But I have to learn, that sometimes no other way seems to be possible.

Thanks a lot for the reply and keep up the good work *thumbs up*

Edit:
PS. For me personally bigger downloads or final sizes are not the big problem and maybe the solution could be just to offer x86 and x64 seperately
to keep the single versions smaller. (just an idea, but I think I'm not the first thinking about that)

Speed Test

The 32-bit version can handle multi-threading just as well as the 64-bit version, it's more a matter of the RAM and the bit width. I'd be curious on a comparison of the rendering speed between the two versions on your box with a decent rendering project if you wouldn't mind.

Indeed, that would be interesting.
But to be honest, it will be the first time using a 3D modelling software
for me. And Blender has been advised to me as very user friendly and good to learn about that topic. For that reason it's teh #1 choice for me so far.
So, of course I have no own project for a comparison, still.

If you have one, I would let it run through the portable x86 version
and installed x64 afterwards (after reboot of course).
That would be a very good benchmark how RAM and bit width have an impact on that.

(And sorry, if I write so simple. English is not my first language.)
