Please fix this PA peepz since I don't want to have to uninstall just because an update is too big for my internet allowance and I don't use the program(s) very often.

You can elect not to install any updates you want simply by unchecking them. You can also disable the automatic update check within Options.
If you have an app you want to keep at a specific version without being prompted to update each time you check, you can rename it. So, X:\PortableApps\AppName becomes X:\PortableApps\AppNameOld or similar. The updater will then skip it. When you want it updated again, just rename it back.

I appreciate the great work PA.com does, but I'm afraid this ain't a solution.
I'm unsure what's wrong with the above solution. You can either decline it just for that time by unchecking it or keep an app permanently at an old version by renaming its directory (or semi-permanently since you can name it back). What other option are you looking for?

Renaming is something I don't want to have to need to do and merely suggesting it invokes a feeling that PA.com don't want to actually even consider addressing what is an obvious limitation (unless there is some problem with the network app).
With Windows Update you "hide" things, why not with PA.com?
The PortableApps Platform has one developer, Windows has hundreds. The PortableApps Platform is free, Windows sells for hundreds of dollars a pop.
John is in no way saying there won't in the future be an easier way to do it, but for now that is all there is. There's nothing anyone can do about it but live with the features and limitations of the Platform that are already there until John has the time/money to implement more.
Most people only ever skip updating an app at a given moment due to not having the bandwidth or time at that moment. That's why you can simply uncheck a given update to skip it.
We will be adding in 'smart skipping' so it remembers that you skipped it last time and won't prompt you for that specific app but will show it to you unchecked in the list of outdated apps. That will debut in a future release.
We will likely not add the ability to hide updates aside from renaming the folder. Skipping updates permanently and having no reminder of that fact is a bad idea for security reasons.
Nearly all apps that are regularly updated are updated not just for features but for security fixes. This applies to browsers, torrent clients, email clients, chat, office suites, development tools, etc. So, we don't want to make it easy for a user to decide that they don't want to update uTorrent ever again because it has ads now, for example, since the new versions also fix critical security issues. Renaming is a nice compromise on that since it is relatively easy to do, but nearly impossible to do accidentally.

I look very forward to this and now have no issue in filling my drive with apps I simply like the sound of or want to try at a later time, in the knowing that updates will be seamless even if I miss one due to the stringent processes each application is subject to prior to portablizing.

Or you could just download them when you want to try them or have the time to try them. And should you find something you like better or something bigger that you want to try you won't have to find things to delete that you already downloaded and never tried to make room.
It's not like the PA files are going to go away anytime soon. No need to hoard.

No but they are easy to uninstall so I can check which ever ones I want (can't check them all) and try them as I wish.
The problem was I didn't want to have to go into the directories themselves and rename because I already do that enough with "explore here" when I want to pin them to my task menu.
I think we must dispense with the mentality that everyone is using these things on flash memory because:
a) it is slower than a hard drive
and
b) they are great alternatives to the so-called real thing in that if you mess up preferences for a particular app, you just delete and re-download
