The notification sound is not working correctly
Although the notification sound file (tweet.wav) exist in the directory (\PortableApps\TweetDeckPortable\App\TweetDeck\) when a notification arrives tweetdedk will play the default windows sound instead of tweedeck default sound.

Could you try opening the TweetDeckPortable.ini file within the TweetDeckPortable\App\AppInfo\Launcher directory and WorkingDirectory=%PAL:AppDir%\TweetDeck as a new line within the [Launch] section?

UPDATE: This fix is now included in TweetDeck Portable 3.0.2 and later.

Hi John,

First let me apologize for not replying to you sooner, have been to be bz this few days.

Anyhow, i have applied your recommendation, and indeed the notification sound is now working properly.

Have had no other problems (til now)!

I Get the following error when trying to install TweetDeck:

"The installer was unable to download TweetDeck. The installation of the portable app will be incomplete without it. Please try installing again. (ERROR: Redirection (302))"

I don't know if it has anything to do with it but I am currently limited to a dial-up connection here at home. These installs that function by downloading files are a REAL pain in the ass. I don't see what difference it makes if you download an online install utility which has to draw from an online source or package it all together from the get-go. Is there a complete package to download or can you provide any insight to the error?

A 302 error doesn't sound like something that would be caused by slow internet. It would more than likely be a temporary issue (so try the download again) or it may be an issue on Tweetdeck's hosting redirecting you for some unknown reason (in which case it still won't work).

Regarding online vs. bundled installers, we only do online installers for freeware and only when the developer has refused us the ability to bundle it. In some cases we will likely never bundle some apps - jPortable is an example of this because Oracle have specifically asked us to do it as an online installer.

Thanks for the reply. I figured as much on the online installers. Online installers just seems counter-intuitive to me, it's just me thinking too much Smile

I'll try the install tomorrow, thanks again.

I tried it right after you posted before as well as now and it works fine in both instances.

Are you able to download it directly by clicking the grey button under desktop? https://www.tweetdeck.com/

If so, place that file in the same directory as TweetDeckPortable_2.5.3.paf.exe and then run the paf.exe.

Note: Windows/Internet Explorer must be properly configured to access the internet for live installers to work.

Download is working. File being saved is TweetDeck.msi. If I remember correctly that's a Microsoft Installer file. Running "TweetDeckPortable_2.5.3.paf.exe" with this msi file in the same folder will install TweetDeck Portable?

If this is the case, will have to remember for future installs.

Thanks for the help, going outside while file downloads.

Didn't want to leave ya hangin. I did as you mentioned above an install went off without a hitch. Don't know enough about these things to know why the online installer didn't work and your method above did. Thanks.

How will Twitter recently axing this app affect this version? I quit Twitter months ago, but I'm curious and the timing of this release is either interesting or unfortunate.

They discontinued the AIR version, which hasn't been available for download in a while. I'm pretty sure the native Windows and Mac versions are going to continue as most folks don't use Chrome.

i have always been an avid user and admirer of this great multiclient social media integrator with multiple accounts.the light skinned version is much easy for the eyes.however web tweetdeck version has largely offset the need for a ram consuming desktop version.the portable version is welcome addition for users like me who dont have space in pc to afford it!it continues to amaze me even after years of familiarity.

I just discovered you had this portable app and tried to install it on my portable hard drive. It tells me the downloaded file is not valid and it cannot install it. I tried both installing it from the portable apps menu, as well as installing it from the website here. If you need a screenshot, I can post one. But I suspect that it is simply that the file has become corrupt.

Thanks.

TweetDeck just released a new version, so we're pushing out the update. It'll be available shortly and announced on our homepage, RSS, etc.
