Temporary replacement for the upcoming file associations feature?

Hi

I've just downloaded portableapps 12 beta 2 but still could not find a way to manage file associations, anyone know of a replacement that will work on the current portableapps version? I have found this : https://portableapps.com/node/15583 but the link seems to be broken.

I like free software(as in freedom of speech) and use whenever possible, but this feature is a must for me, so it's the only thing blocking me from migrating from the french platform, which is closed source and seems to be a little abandoned.

Try this

Hmmmm PFA seems to be down indeed...
You can always try eXpresso. It basically works the same way.

Yes, I set the working directory!

I have read about

I have read about eXpresso(https://portableapps.com/node/34718), but it seems to handle only double clicks. I was looking for a way to have real file associations though HKCU registry. Besides, I cannot find eXpresso in the official apps list when I click on 'get more apps'(I wonder why)

You can't find it because it

You can't find it because it never became official - neither did Portable File Associator.

Just because they did not get

Just because they did not get an official release does not mean they don't work.

There are numerous apps in the beta test thread that have not received an official release despite being fully portable and completely adherent to the specification - they just haven't garnered enough attention, or are no longer updated.

They won't become official

They won't become official because (as far as I know) they are no longer developed. Plus the Platform will soon handle file associations (in a much better way from everything John has said so far) so it would be redundant to have apps to achieve the same or lesser functionality.

It would be like officially releasing an app that updates your official PortableApps every time you start the Platform - this functionality is already covered by the Platform so there is no point.
