Hello!
Toucan v. 3.0.4. installed fine into my Win XP standard apps software directory ("C:\Archivos de programa\Toucan"), but v. 3.10 won't, and even if I install somewhere else and then copy to "C:\Archivos de programa\Toucan", Toucan will *refuse* to run!
I´ve never had software do this before! Can we please revert this behaviour? (or at least make it optional)

The "Program Files" or equivalent directory is not supported for portable software. More details are here:

As a workaround, you can create a PortableApps directory or similar on your C:\ drive and install and run from there.

All I am asking is that I be allowed to install Toucan wherever I want to, as I was able to do with the previous version.
I consider an app telling me where I can and where I can't install it to be quite unfriendly.
It seems these days every programmer has his or her app do something special in a non-standard way.
The result is we users with hundreds of apps just can't keep up with the myriad "I'm so special" needs of apps with non-standard behaviours.
Your distinction between a base app and a portable app is a case in point.
Why not have Toucan work as both? Good software design is about abstraction, so Toucan could tell when it's supposed to behave as a base app or as a portable app (if that distinction needs really to be made).
Me, I don't use any portable apps for portability. I just find Toucan to be the easiest way to synch my external HDD to my internal HDD, so I only use it as a base app.
On a side note, a suggestion for improvement would be the ability to access networked drives directly without needing to map them as a local drive first (by assigning a drive letter).

There are multiple technical reasons why Program Files is locked out by the PA.c Launcher and Installer as explained in the linked post. Toucan is a portable-only app. There is no local installer for it. There is unlikely to be one in the near future, either, as Toucan is no longer developed. We are hopeful a developer will step forward to continue development, but there is not one for now. Until then, Toucan settings are made within its own directory, which is not what Program Files is designed for (and will break in all modern Windows OSes).
You can continue using the older version. Or use the newer one with the older Toucan.exe in the base directory. This may not work (and is unsupported, of course). Also note that Toucan will break in Program Files if you upgrade to anything later than Windows XP.
