Can not Install Add-ons

Hi

I sometimes can not intall add-ons with Firefox Portable.
It seems that I can not install another add-on after I installed one add-on (it is not because of a specific add-on, for everything).
Therefore, I had to restart firefox once to install one add-on.

What is going on?
My environment is Windows XP EN SP2.

Save locally

As mentioned on the Firefox Portable support page, you usually need to save extensions and themes locally and then do a File - Open to install them. This is due to a two year old bug in Firefox where it has issues installing extensions or themes when the cache is disabled.

Also, if you don't use the launcher, you won;t be able to install extensions Wink

I didn't know that Fx had issues with extensions when the cache is disabled.

More extension help needed

Hi there,

I seem to have fallen into the same trap as others -- unable to install extensions properly. The problem is, I am now trying to uninstall the extensions so that I can properly upload them manually, except this is not working....the extensions say "this add-on will be installed when Firefox is restarted," and when I try to uninstall, it just goes to "this add-on will be uninstalled when Firefox is restarted," but it never happens.

Do I need to start over completely, or is there a way for me to quickly banish all these problematic extensions and then try to do them one by one manually?

Thanks,
Josh

It's a FF issue

I'm off in a rush... but a quick Google for it will help. It's a standard issue that happens with FF when it doesn't shut down correctly. There's a single file in your profile you can delete to fix it but I'm heading out at the moment. Extensions.rdf perhaps.

Yes, it is

Yes, it is \Data\profile\extensions.rdf. Just make sure to delete it while Fx is not open.
