Request > DISK-Cloner

Cant imagine this app dont exists...!

I want a Portable App for copy/clone partitions and drives on the go!

( It doesnt need to be fancy, just a clone-tool that is launched from a usb-drive > browse-Choose what to copy > and transfer RAW data to new destination > target for instance external HDD also connected to the client. those linux tools are quite simply copying all data from A to B. Just make it portable so it doesnt need the registry /memory of the source machine...? Possible? Thanks )

*also please notify if there exists similar tool today that launch from usb & doesnt need to be installed local. For instance i´v got this tiny command-utility called "DumpIT" wich can be launched from external device like a usb-flash drive and what it does is dumping the RAM-of the target computer and saves it as RAW-data. I Used this when i had to try recover some keystrokes from a windows machine...(and yes i found it. with a hex-editor! Overkill but u got the point. )

many tools

many tools around, for example http://www.easeus.com/

but to make them portable makes not very much of sense as normally such tools are used from a bootable media to have proper access to the partitions.

Also note that under current operating systems, one needs admin rights to access partitos structures etc.

So if you want copy partitions or whole disks, use all the utils provided, inclusive clonzilla etc.

Sticky this

-Ehm, Yes there are some tools around that requires special formated usbsticks with Bootsektor etc like HireensLiveCD,Clonezilla.... I have not succed install those, and even if so. That pendrive cannot at the same time contain portableapps etc ?

The point of the PortableSuit is to bring everything you need on-the-go. I dont want to shift usb-pendrive.

simple

go to websites of the authors or partedmagic or similar, you have plenty infos as how to have bootable disk or stick with all those programs.

And yes, you can have portable apps on same stick in windows partition and have still other bootable linux partition on that stick.

As stated, having such utility in portable apps format will be useless as it will do just some of its tasks. Such operations can not be done completely under windows running and portable apps depend on windows to be present and running.

Check those out

If you haven't tried already, maybe this will work out for you.

The popular "DriveImage XML", extracted and installed according to the instructions provided on this page:

And, there is some other app of this kind, "Dubaron DiskImage":

I am new to this

A beginner's question:

Let's say I just installed Windows on a 32 GB partition, I set up everything I wanted , it just takes up 10 GB of space then I want to archive/backup the 10 GB to even less space > compress, then which of the many cloning softwares is my best bet?

backup

with many of the image backup software it is simple to create the image and in most cases it will be nicely compressed as well.

The question come up later, when you try to do something with that image, e.g. to restore it.
There is famous joke:
...we did sell you a backup software, we did not say anything about restore...

You can try clonzilla or what ever, this is free and works well and I am cloning main drives of strange laptops also, and so it did work any time.
You can get any of the commercial software, simple image of a partition all will do.

Best you get something like parted magic bootable media, and there you will find all tools you need included.
