Within reason

Situations where you can:

  • The app is your own work and is either open source or freeware
  • The app is not your own work but is open source
  • The app is not your own work, is freeware, and is an online installer
  • The app is not your own work, is freeware, is not an online installer, but you have permission from the author to distribute it in PortableApps format (we generally require some form of proof, such as a link to a forum post, the body of an email etc. which may be checked out further if we feel the need)

Situations where you can't:

  • The app is commercial software or trialware*
  • The app is freeware, is not an online installer and you cannot provide proof of permission from the app author
  • * If the commercial/trialware app is your own, then you need to talk to John directly about it via the business development email on the contact page.

In all cases the app needs to be in PortableApps format (doesn't have to be 100% correct, we are happy to help out there, as long as you have attempted to get it in the supported format).

The app is your own work and is either open source or freeware

Not completely true. These forums forbid self-promotion of software that is not under an open source license.

    Somewhat counter-intuitive

We officially started allowing freeware since that was written, but we are still going to prevent freeware developers from submitting their apps?

    Freeware

You can submit your own freeware for inclusion if it is in PAF or if you'd like assistance making an official PAF.

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
