Portable Apps Won't Start On One Computer

My work pc suddenly won't read my usb drive. It is running XP and Computer Management / Storage identifies the drive present but it is not mounted. Tried 2 other pcs at work, one Win7, the other XP. Both read the drive. All run identical antivirus software. Portable Apps run fine on both of them.

Same at home with two Win7 and one XP computer. Any thoughts on what I might look for? Frustrating because it is not working on the computer I use the most and it is reading other USB devices.

I thought I had posted this earlier in the day but I never saw it appear

I would try uninstalling and

I would try uninstalling and reinstalling the driver for it.
Slight generic instructions since I do not have a Windows XP system at present to use.
Open Device Manager, find the device, right-click on it and choose Uninstall.
Remove it, restart the computer and then reconnect it.

If at first you do not succeed, use more sticky tape.

The advice is good, I should

The advice is good, I should have tried it. Have been reluctant since it is a work pc and they really don't want me using usb/portable apps drive on it. And I don't have admin access. Will see what happens since I can't make it any worse than it is.

Other ports?

If the system has multiple ports, have you tried another one? For example, I have one drive that works on the back ports of my desktop but not the front ones. No idea why.

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!

I found the problem. A network asset was mapped to the drive letter my portable apps drive was using. IT must have been playing around on this pc for some reason. I remapped the network drive to another letter and am back in business.
