I set the folder in Stellarium to D:\TEMP but on restart it always reverts to C:\Users\David\Pictures.
I have Stellarium on D:\PortableApps
Is there a fix please ?

This folder is reset to your Pictures folder at every start by the launcher. This could be changed but John, the developer ot the portable version, has to decide that.

Do you have that location right? It should be resetting it to D:\Documents\Pictures, as the launcher is supposed to reset it to that, based on where you have the app located on your computer.
I'll take a look at supporting a user-set location, though. I have an idea how to do so that still allows the launcher to do it's magic.
Check if its different from the last driveletter and then change it to the current one? I tihnk there are aps doing it that way, I just dont know which

Thanks for replying chaps, the drive locations are correct, I only have windows on C:\
