Terminals

Found a neat new "all access" remote app that's FOSS. Terminals is a neat app that does RDP/VNC/SSH/Telnet/etc all in one. I don't know that I would have time right now to dig into this, plus the app is written in C# so we have a .NET dependency.

Add to that, that I'm not sure their license would allow it without direct permission. So I'm posting it here in case someone else (maybe John?) will take a look and be able to work on this.

License

The only issue I see in the license is clause 2B, the trademark clause. If I'm reading that clause right, we need to seek permission solely for trademark &icon usage, not for the portablization itself.

This is similar to how AOO works, as well as some of our freeware apps, and I personally don't foresee an issue, provided the rationale for using the trademark et al. is explained clearly.

Already Portable

Don't know if you have seen but when installing the program it has an option to install as a portable version. So making a portable version would be unnecessary.

Portable vs Portable

There are lots of different kinds of 'portable'. Here, we're talking about PortableApps.com Format:
https://portableapps.com/about/what_is_a_portable_app#whypaf

If it's not in PortableApps.com Format, it doesn't appear in our app store for easy 'checkbox, Next' install. And it doesn't get automatically updated by our platform. We take lots of "portable" software in zip or other formats and package them in PortableApps.com Format for several of the reasons outlined in that link.

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!

That is something that quite

That is something that quite a few of the PA apps support, having a default option to install portably. The idea would be to integrate them with the PA format and platform. Inherently portable definitely helps with that though Smile
