I just installed Opera Portable 12.16 on my flash drive from PortableApps.com.
When I start it up, a blue Downloads folder is created in my User's Favorites folder.
I have set up the Downloads path in Opera's Preferences for my User's Downloads folder as follows:
C:\Users\UserName\Downloads
Does anyone know what is going on here?
I am about ready to delete this portable browser.

I have a screenshot. Taking the shot allowed me to see something new. In addition to the one new blue Downloads folding inside the Favorites folder, I now have another one being created in the folders list just above the Favorites folder. So, I have one new one being created inside the Favorites folder and one new being created outside the folder.

(I made the orange arrows in a psint program.)
The blue Downloads folder inside the Favorites folder is exactly the same as the "real" one just above the Favorites folder.
If I close Opera, delete the Downloads folder inside the Favorites folder, then reopen Opera, the Downloads folder is created again inside the Favorites folder. The create date/time for the Downloads folder inside the Favorites folder is when I opened Opera.
When I download something from the Internet, Opera tries to download it to my Documents folder. So, it is ignoring the path I set up and the new Downloads folder it created.

I read on the Opera website forum that there is an option for installing a portable version from that website. It is version 16.0.1196.80. I tried installing and running that from my flash drive. I got the same results: The Downloads folder is created when I run that portable version.
Exactly how are you running Opera Portable? From the PortableApps Platform, from a shortcut, did you pin the program to the Start Menu/Taskbar....?
Thank you for the reply.
I am starting it from my flash drive.
I also went to the Opera website and checked the forums there. I found out that I can get a portable version installed from their regular installer. There is a checkbox in the installation process. I am getting the same bug with that version (16.0.1196.80).
I tried changing the Downloads path to a folder on my flash drive. I still get the extra Downloads folder when I reopen Opera.
The User\Downloads folder is a standard Windows folder used by most major browsers. Is there some reason yours doesn't exist?
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
I do have that standard blue Downloads folder.
The issue is that Opera is creating a new blue Downloads folder inside my blue Favorites folder in Windows Explorer when I start up that portable app.
After some tests and some help I found out that Opera is changing my registry. It is changing the Downloads path by adding the Favorites to the path for the Downloads folder. That is why I am getting additional blue Downloads folders.
