We only support the most recent version of Skype. If there is some reason it doesn't work, it should be reported.
If you're referring to the platform's built in updater, it will always show you that update as it should be accepted. If you want to continue to use the older version without being prompted to update, rename the SkypePortable folder to SkypePortable6.6. The updater will then skip that app when checking for updates.

I hope that help
renamed the name and still get the Update window

That's a notification from Skype itself. Try clicking "not now" on that dialog. It likely will only make the dialog go away for that session, though.
The easier way, of course, is to update to the latest release, as released from here, not using the built-in updater.
[EDIT] Delete extraneous "using"
but I do not want to update
every time I have of clicking the "not now"
Skype itself checks for updates and will notify you. The only way to turn it off is to turn it off for all users of a given PC with admin rights. There is no other way to disable it.
Neither Skype nor PortableApps.com supports or recommends using outdated versions.

and how to check whether you have admin privileges ?

Is there a repository of old Skype portable? I need a version prior to 6.10.0.104.
I can live with no support for it but I can't bear with changes the last version brought and most certainly I won't be able to bear future Skype version without API support.
Thanks in advance.
We stop distributing old versions as soon as the new version is released.
