Spybot 2.2 Executable Problem

I'm having trouble with the latest Spybot. I can't update via the platform and I can't install from a manual download. In each case it basically says that the installer executable is invalid (sounds like a corrupt file). I've tried from different locations, on different computers and no dice.

Anyone else having this issue?

Fine Here

Just downloaded it and it came through fine. MD5 is 82445767096c07f91c6783d1edcc5352 just as on the app homepage and the updater DB and it runs without issue. So the file is there and done correctly. How large is the file you get and what MD5 does it have? It could be a problem with an individual node in our download network via MaxCDN/NetDNA. We were having issues with some gateway errors the other day causing images on the site not to load in Australia (see this thread).

I was worried at first that this would require a revision. Each release of Spybot costs us $100 for just the first 2 days of bandwidth.

File Details

Just tried to re-download SpybotPortable_2.2.paf.exe

MD5: 6A96668DEACC8365E49AE445DDA41C2D
Size: 54.6 MB (57,330,680 bytes)
Size (on disk): 54.6 MB (57,331,712 bytes)

Upon execution of file:

NSIS Error
Installer integrity check has failed. Common causes include incomplete download and damaged media. Contact the installer's author to obtain a new copy.

Still Occurring

Unfortunately, I am still experiencing this exact same issue and I am in Minnesota. The manual installer fails its integrity check when executed manually. Internet Explorer also reports that the installer's signature is invalid upon download completion. Of course, the update center is also stil failing. When I run it through a freeware MD5 checker that I have, it returns the following hash: 6A96668DEACC8365E49AE445DDA41C2D

RE: Steps

The trace route is timing out. Am I doing something wrong?

Tracing route to portableappscdn.rareideasllc.netdna-cdn.com [108.161.189.161]
over a maximum of 30 hops:

1 * * * Request timed out.
2 * * * Request timed out.

As for the link:
"You are hitting the NetDNA Chicago Datacenter"

From my perspective, I'm happy to wait until the next release if it means you avoid incurring extra cost.

Same problem in Midwest

I am having the exact same problem in the Midwest as users Darkbee and bobertdos. I have downloaded it 5x now at various times over the past 3 days. Using WinMD5Sum portable on each subsequent download produces the exact same reported MD5 Sum as theirs, as well. In each case, the following is reported:

NSIS Error: Installer integrity check has failed.

D:\DOWNLOADS\SpybotPortable_2.2.paf.exe
MD5 Sum: 6a96668deacc8365e49ae445dda41c2d
Compare: 82445767096c07f91c6783d1edcc5352

File properties (FAT32):
Size: 54.6 MB (57,330,680 bytes)
Size on disk: 54.6 MB (57,344,000 bytes)

In each case 'download2.portableapps.com' is reported as the download link location.

Did not perform a traceroute. However, opening http://108.161.189.161/ yields "You are hitting the NetDNA Chicago Datacenter"

Hope this helps.

Contacted MaxCDN/NetDNA

It would seem the file failed to sync to the Chicago node. I have a ticket into MaxCDN.

Standing-By

That sync error became rather apparent after several downloads from the same source produced the same invalid MD5Sum. Would have been great to have the choice of an alternate mirror, like with the Open Source Release apps. Looks like this issue will be relatively easy enough for you to resolve and close-out. I patiently look forward to the update. Thanks, John!

File Updated

The file should now be updated on the Chicago edge server. Please try to download again now. (You may need to clear your browser's cache)
