Does Pidgin still work?

Does Pidgin still work? Is anybody still using it? Between all of the possible IM services anymore, Facebook, Google+, and Twitter I thought I would give it a try. Sadly, it fails to connect to any of my services. Is anybody using it for FB chat, or Twitter?

Yes and No

Pidgin and all included "off-the-shelf" plugins still work just as well as they have been. The problem comes from poorly maintained third party plugins (such as those to connect to Facebook without resorting to XMPP shenanigans and the Twitter plugin you mentioned). The Twitter plugin has not been updated to use the newest API from Twitter, so it fails to function. It may be worth contacting the plugin developer if this is is a killing point for using Pidgin.
