[Fixed] SmartDefrag leaves registry entry

Hi,
I am using SmartDefragPortable 2.9.0, which is the latest version. It creates a registry key in HKLM, HKLM\Software\IObit\Smart Defrag 2, which won't be cleaned up after closing the application.
Is there any problem with the launcher? I am using WinXP SP3.

Confirmed

I can confirm this bug does happen on Windows 8.1 Professional x64 as well. To the OP: you should move this topic to "Other Apps Support" and change the title to "[Bug] SmartDefrag leaves registry entry" so that the devs will see it.

Until officially fixed

Until the dev in charge of this app fixes it officially, below are the instructions to add the fix yourself:

  1. Navigate to SmartDefragPortable\App\AppInfo\Launcher and open SmartDefragPortable.ini
  2. Under [RegistryKeys] add the following line:
    -=HKLM\Software\IObit\Smart Defrag 2

  3. Save the file and exit. If you delete the registry entry that was left behind before, you should not see it pop up again.

I'll put a quick note on the Outdated Official Portable Apps page that links here so they might see it quicker.

Fixed in Rev 3

This is fixed in SmartDefrag Portable 2.9.0 Rev 3.
