I updated to Firefox 25 Portable, and I had a huge problem of performance, comparing Firefox 24 Portable and Firefox 25 installed (normal installation).
Firefox 25 Portable take loading pages so long, and It fails where Firefox 24 Portable doesn't.
It could be any problem doing portable app package, that it could be impacted in app performace?
Anyone has any performance comment about in this version? Does anyone feels the same as I?
I spent hours trying to figure out why Firefox is so slow - to the point the it made my PC (win 8) slow as well.
Tried reinstalling portable version - no use.
Tried removing all addons and extensions - seemed ok - but immediately after adding a single addon (any addon) it's again super slow to stuck.
..I'll try downgrading - but if that doesn't do the trick - I'll sadly turn to the dark side (chrome) ):
I feel the same. But I have the standard firefox on another laptop with the same problem, so I guess it's the problem because of firefox 25.
Hey, in case this helps in anyone -
Turns out it wasn't Firefox that was slow. It was firebug.
I usually just 'ok, next, next, enter' these warnings - but when I actually read it - there's a msg when you first start firebug (latest version on FF 25) that's saying that the 'Script' tag causes FF to be slow - and they hope to fix it in the next firebug release (don't know when that is).
I had firebug 'On for all pages', which is why my FF was super slow. Unticked that, and will only use the 'Script' if really need to now.
Yay! Longlive Firefox!
Its easy to say afterwards, but its often an extension when Firefox behaves strange.
Glad you found the root of the problem.

In my case, no extensions was installed, and the performance is degraded. I setup FF portable in my hdd with the same performance as USB pendrive.
In my standard installation of FF 25, no performance issues was detected, only in my portable setup is degraded.
getting firefox to fetch one single page from internet (ie google.com (!)) takes over a minute. Once the first page is in, firefox goes into to "sometimes it works, and sometimes it does not" mode. Opening 2 different pages on the same website, in one tab its there straight away (not from cache), and the next tab takes a minute again (not from cache).
Whats the matter? Is firefox HQ receiving my entire HD contents while I wait for a webpage to load? Why is firefox at versin twentyfive already? Is the software that bad? And th worst thing is Explorer runs like lighnting... I had not used that browser for a couple of years, but now its updated and a much, much, much better browser than this buggy firefox edition.
As I posted in your duplicate comment, it works just fine here on Windows XP SP3. As seen here: http://i.imgur.com/FDatH5O.png
So, there's something wrong with your specific install. Again, please post a new topic in the Firefox Support forum with the full details: OS, full install path, new vs upgrade, whether you're running from a flash drive, whether you've tried a fresh install to your desktop (to rule out issues with your profile/extensions and drive), etc.
Likely it is either a problematic extension that isn't fully compatible with 25 (we heard early reports that the web developer extension conflicted with the built in tools), an issue with a portable drive having some drive corruption, an antivirus conflict, or some profile corruption.
Firefox is on version 25 for the same reason Chrome is on version 30, rapid release cycle. A new version is released of both every 6 weeks with bug fixes and new features. Opera is now on the same release cycle, too. IE will likely lag behind.

We are talking IMHO over the performance branch between portable app and standard install.
The load time difference is so huge. Only the difference is the way that you install FF 25.
In PortableApp package, you have a huge load time in different webpages. In stack install, you have x100 speed loading as portable app have.
That's the reason of this topic, trying to find the performance issue in the portable app package.
And what I'm saying is that I and others don't see that at all. None of what you're talking about. No difference at all in portable vs local when run from the same media. I'm not talking over the issue, I'm trying to help you solve what's broken with your specific setup and explain why there is no technical difference between the two. You, however, seem completely unwilling to try a single troubleshooting step.

Went back to the non-portable edtion. It works. Now I have to re-install favorites and the rest. Thanks a lot portableapps....
