Blender

I maybe missing a topic for this but I haven't seen anything for Blender. I try to open it and it gives me a gray background but it fails to open. Anyone experiencing something like this?

Opens fine here

It opens fine here.

What's the exact path you're installing to, as well as OS,
Do you have any antivirus running, and do you have blender installed locally?

Also, if you install blender portable temporarily to your hard drive, does the issue still occur?

I tried it on both Jumpdrive (F:) and Local (C:) and failed both attempts. Windows 7 pro, running on kids computer (waiting for my laptop to come in) which has Pentium D (3.0GHz)-2GB RAM and video running from Mainboard.

I think it would have something to do with not having 3D acceleration since video is mainboard?

Local Mode

Could you try running it in local mode by browsing to BlenderPortable\App\Blender64 and running blender.exe please? Also, check if the directory BlenderPortable\App\Blender64\2.69\datafiles is present.

Finally, what's the full path to the actual install (full directory name)?

ok, I tried to execute from

ok, I tried to execute from App folder and it tells me that I have the incorrect version of Windows (x86 here) running. Then I tried to run x86 Blender and it opens the console for approx. 10 sec. then the main window with gray background opens then closes. Still no joy.
The 2.69 folder seems to have all the files ok.
the directory is "F:PortableApps/BlenderPortable"

Hopefully I gave the right info. Personally, I think it is the computer. Correct me if I am wrong though.

Local

Ok. Would you be willing to download and install local Blender temporarily and see if it works? Afterwords, you can uninstall it. 32-bit installer for Windows here: http://www.blender.org/download/

Ok, installed Blender locally

Ok, installed Blender locally and attempted to run it. Same out come, no joy. The console opened then the gray (Main) window tried to execute then failed.

Blender Bug

Ok. That confirms my suspicion that it's a big in Blender itself. The question is, what's the bug and why is it happening. You may need to go to the publisher with these findings... but let's do a little troubleshooting here. I think you said previous versions worked, correct? If so, did something change on your machine (new antivirus/firewall, new hardware, new software)? Can you try an old version and see if it still works? You can grab one here: https://sourceforge.net/projects/portableapps/files/Blender%20Portable/

Blender Bug

2.68a Same outcome
2.67a Same outcome

Well I hate to say this, but at this point I will wait for another version and hopefully it would work.

Thank you Mr. Haller for guiding me.

PC Issue

Since none of them work, it could be an issue with the PC itself that's triggering something in Blender. Could you try scanning your install of Blender (that way you know it's clean) and then disabling your antivirus and then running Blender again? Make sure nothing else is running and that you don't run anything else with it disabled. And then re-enable it as soon as you're done.

Ok, will do as you say.

Ok, will do as you say.

Disabled AV, scan for cleanliness, reinstalled v. 2.68 and attempted to run, same outcome.

I'll just wait for my laptop to come in and just leave the kids computer alone x)

Thanks for helping.
