I am running Windows 7 Enterprise.
I do not have admin privileges on my work PC.
I installed Chrome on the desktop to prove a point to the IT department. Then I uninstalled it. Now when I click the Chrome link from PortableApps menu I see in task manager that GoogleChromePortable.exe and Chrome.exe open up. Chrome displays Loading... in the tabs and eventually I get a kill page popup. However, if I go to the GoogleChromePortable directory and run GoogleChromePortable about seven chrome.exe open in task manager and one window opens and it works just fine. I know this is related to the Chrome desktop install since it worked before. How can I fix this?
I reimaged the laptop and started from scratch. I still can't launch Chrome portable from the portable apps launcher. It works on other's computers and my laptop at home that also has Chrome installed so I am not sure what is going on. I've tried deleting Chrome Portable and starting over and still the same thing happens.
I checked Chrome Task Manager. When I run it from the launcher I have a browser task with some memory allocated. Then I have two extensions with 0K memory.
When I run it directly Chrome Task Manager has browser, instant: new tab, extensions, and GPU process all with >0K memory. I am not sure what the difference is between the portable apps launcher and double clicking googlechromeportable.com but something is broken there.
There's no difference, whether you navigate to, and click on, GoogleChromePortable.exe or whether you click on the same in the platform.
