How to Select Language(s) To Install

I don't want to install ALL other languages except English and Chinese, But there is no option to select my own language (Chinese) or others to install in the installer. The only option is "Remove Extra Languages" and Not to install ALL others except English.

Please help! thank you.

Installer + English

You can choose to install the language you have the installer running in (Chinese Simplified in this case, I assume) + English or install everything. If you're using the Multilingual Normal download (English (US and GB), Arabic, Chinese (Simplified and Traditional), French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese (Brazilian and Portugal), Russian, and Spanish) then it's literally only a difference of 100MB between one and the other anyway (which is meaningless on modern flash drives) so you may as well just install them all.

I don't really understand this. I can either have the English only version for 300 MB or all languages for 700 MB. What would be nice if I can cheery pick the languages I need. Is that possible?

Or to put it more simply: I need the English plus only spell checking in language X. I have downloaded the file for spell checking. How do I add it to LibreOffice to recognize?

Then possibly I can easily change between languages to spell check with a single button like in browsers? Maybe not, but that would be ideal. Alternatively, no word processor offers that?

Modifying PA.c Installer

It would require modifying the PA.c Installer significantly as it only supports a single option on install and we try to avoid it for automation and simplicity. Additionally, parsing out what files are needed for what language for every release of LibreOffice would be required. Unlike other apps that have a locales directory and then language files in directories like en, fr, it, etc within, LibreOffice has language files all over the place.

As for adding spellcheck languages and switching between them, that's a LibreOffice question more than a LibreOffice Portable question as I'm unfamiliar with the locations of the files.

You can use spell checker

I think I can help a little with the spell checking part of the question. If you have downloaded the file for spell checking (.oxt file), you can add it to LibreOffice Portable in exactly the same way you would do it with a local install. Just go to "Tools - Extension Manager...", click the "Add..." button and find the .oxt file. The only difference between a local and a portable install is in the next step, where you have to choose "Only for me" if you want to be able to use the spelling checker.

After restarting LibreOffice Portable, the spelling checker should be ready for use for that language.

I have just tested it by installing LibreOffice Portable in English only (with the option of removing other languages) and adding the French spelling checker extension. It works as expected.

Edit: There is no real button for switching the languages, but you can easily switch between the languages you are using in a document by right clicking on the language name on LibreOffice's status bar. I would certainly say that is close enough.
