but this is an relative old one, i recommend the newest miranda found here: http://www.miranda-im.org/development
there is the newest modern contact integrated.
then you can use themes and smileys
Apps on my Portable Device:
Miranda, Firefox, Sunbird, Thunderbird, 7-Zip, FileZilla, GIMP, OOo, Sodoku and VLC
German User, Sorry for my bad english, I do my really really best
I have installed Miranda NG portable and it has Clist Modern installed by default. I wanted to change the skin, so I downloaded some *.msf skins and put them in PortableApps\MirandaNGPortable\App\mirandang\Skins folder, each in it's own folder. I went to Options -> Skins -> Contac List and they don't show in under available skins (there is only a Default Skin). I tried pressing the Rescan button and restarting the application, but nothing shows up. I tried putting the skin files out of their folders - directly into the Skins folder, but still nothing!
Note - this is a 7 year old thread, you should have started a new thread rather than resurrecting this one.
With that said, according to the Miranda NG wiki page for Clist Modern, you should put the skins in MirandaNGPortable\App\mirandang\Skins\Modern contact list\ .
Sorry for resuscitating an old thread - I will keep your suggestion in mind for next time.
Thanks for pointing me to the solution, I was searching Miranda IM wiki http://wiki.miranda-im.org/Customise:skins and it said to put the skins in Miranda\Skins\skinname. As the plugin for Miranda IM and Miranda NG is the same, I thought the instructions are appropriate.
for smileys you must have the "smiley add" plugin fro here:
http://addons.miranda-im.org/details.php?action=viewfile&id=2455 (or the ansi version, link is in the file description)
for themes, you must have at least "modern contact list" or "contactlist nicer"
maybe from here: http://addons.miranda-im.org/details.php?action=viewfile&id=2103

Anyway, problem solved
Is this really an app that PA wants to promote. The miranda forum is very poorly maintained, and information is difficult to find.
