I had the utility installed on my flash drive for about a year. I just tried to run it only to have it auto update, install itself on the local drive, spam me with popups to buy Advanced System Care 7, and installed several Chrome extensions; Advanced SystemCare Surfing Protection, Amazon Shopping Assistant by Spigot, Domain Error Assistant, Ebay Shopping Assistant by Spigot. All without permission.
I had none of these extensions prior to running Smart Defrag Portable. I then ran malwarebytes and it has littered my pc with garbage:
Which version did you have installed? Was it the latest one from here or an older version? The older version had updating enabled and could cause this. The latest version has it disabled and should not cause this. I just ran it yesterday without issue.
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
Can't say what version I had before, as I said it's been about year or so. And I've already deleted it. I've used it in the past without any issue, but this new version it updated itself to is simply malware all the way. IObit Apps Toolbar. Even rebooting after malwarebytes cleared out all traces, all the browser extensions came back, and IObit's software has integrated itself into the control panels add/remove programs, adding a new "powerful uninstall" feature.
Hopefully adwcleaner will delete all this iobit garbage that's taken over my computer.
I have had similar problems with IObitUninstallerPortable updating and installing itself with a service.exe file on my local PC without permission. It was the latest version v3.1

Between malwarebytes, adwcleaner, hijackThis, and manually removing all the browser extensions and deleting several registry keys then finally deleting the LiveUpdateSvc service, my problems have gone away.
After some other searching online, iobit seems to be very popular in the malware business. They are a very shady company and I promptly removed my other iobit software (iobit unlocker portable), without running it of course.
