ChromePortable using local Chrome registry settings?

Hi, I'm a long time user of Chrome Portable. I realized today that I was using a really old version (24.x) so I went to upgrade with the latest.

When I run the latest Chrome Portable, however, it is using all of the registry settings and config from the local Chrome my employer installs on my desktop.

This was not the case with the 24.x Chrome Portable I was running. I used the Chrome Portable for personal and the local Chrome for work. I had the Chrome Portable all set up with my sync'd bookmarks, extensions, etc and was happy. Neither Chrome knew the other existed and there was no conflict. Life was good.

I thought the point of a portable app was that it would run self-contained without using the registry but clearly the Chrome Portable I just installed is using the local Chrome's settings. For example, incognito mode is disabled and when I try to "Sign In To Chrome" it says that it was "blocked by the administrator".

How do I get the new Chrome Portable to behave the same as the old (24.x) Chrome Portable? Both are installed in separate folders if that makes a difference.

Any help or a pointer to a how-to/solution is welcome!

I'm no expert

I'm no expert, but it sounds like chrome.exe is being run, instead of GoogleChromePortable.exe.

How are you launching/running Chrome Portable?
