Canonical folders

Hello all!

The platform menu (nice design, by the way!) has four standard folders on the right: Documents, Music, Pictures & Video. I would like to know if it is possible to:
– rename them;
– change their icons (on the folders themselves, and on the PA launcher).

Minor subsidiary point: changing also the Explore icon.

Thanks for your help!

Not Yet, Coming

It's not yet possible to change those folders, although the ability to do so has been confirmed as an upcoming feature: https://portableapps.com/node/28593

So to clarify, items without

So to clarify, items without an asterisk will be implemented in a release after the next one? And also, what does it mean by "file associations"?

Already Done

Anything marked by an asterisk is already completed in our internal build -- as in fully done and working -- it's just not public yet. It'll be included in the next release.

File associations means the ability to associate files at the OS level with portable apps and have it managed by the platform rather than relying on an add-on like eXpresso or Portable File Associator.

Oh, so for example, if you opened an .mp3 file, you could set a portable app to open it automatically?

Correct

That's correct. You can already do that with the eXpresso and Portable File Association apps, but you'll be able to do it just with the platform at some point in the future.

So would this also work with

So would this also work with other computers? The computer I use at school has Deep Freeze so every time someone logs off all the data reverts to what it was before it was used.
