[Closed] QuiteRSS is not retaining feeds

QuiteRSS is not retaining feeds upon closing since the last update. Each time it is closed with the feeds, when re-opened the feeds are gone. Re-importing and closing results in the same result.

Thanks!

Working Here

I just fired up a fresh copy of QuiteRSS, added in the main reddit RSS feed, closed the app, waited for it to fully close and ensured it had in task manager, relaunched the app. The RSS feeds were still there and still maintained my read/unread status.

Bug on their end?

Hmm, that's odd. I also watched it properly close in the task manager and it still deletes the feeds on closing. I tried a fresh install and it retains them.

As an experiment I added the 7 or so feeds from the original to the fresh install, closed it and replaced the QuiteRSS.ini from the old install and reopened the fresh install. It retained the feeds.

I'm not sure why this is happening, but I can recreate it each time with the old install. Not a big deal, I'll likely just use the fresh copy. Wink

P.S. Sorry if the original bug post was posted twice. Not sure how that happened.

Corrupt Database

It could be a corrupt feed database on your old install. A corrupted feeds.db wouldn't be able to retain your stuff. Was the drive corrupt at all? Did the PC crash while it was running? Or was the drive unsafely ejected while the app was running?

Hard drive

I don't believe the hard drive is corrupt, although it is quite possible that QuiteRSS was open during a crash a while back. That is probably what happened.

Thanks for the help!

Keep an Eye

You're welcome. I'll close this bug for now.

You don't need to try to recover them from the feeds.db since you have an exported backup. But it may be possible using a SQLite database client if someone else in the future has a corrupted database and doesn't have a recent feed list. Just wanted to include this for completeness in case someone with a similar issue finds this in the future.
