Scribus is now Win32 native -> Portable Scribus ?

On January 23rd, Scribus 1.3.2 has been released (

It now features a native Win32 port ( which greatly improves performance and remove the need for Cygwin.

It would be nice to have a portable version of this fantastic piece of software.

Not likely...

It requires a local install of ghostscript.

BTW - When asking about an app, it helps to mention what that app is. It took me a minute to find out what Scribus was.

Sort Of...

I actually have it portable. Ghostscript is unzipped within the scribus directory and Scribus is pointed to GS correctly. I use a batch file to set a HOME directory and start scribus.

Unfortunately, due to problems with GS, It will not open nor import PS or EPS files, but Scribus can save out to PDF and import from SVG.... That is basically all I need it to do.... So for me it's fine.

Ever used USB "downunder"?

I'm curious, how'd you set

I'm curious, how'd you set up your .bat file to specify where to put the config stuff? It would be really nice if we could get a Portable Scribus program going. If we could figure this out, we may also be able to get gimp and rssowl to work as portable apps.

The only real thing I've successfully done is modify the splash screen so it says "Portable Scribus", added the font files included with gs, and included the basic gs program. The whole program totals to be 61mb uncompressed.
