I cannot find any button to reset it like shown on the help page:

Or is it better to set up a new Firefox and to import bookmarks, passwords?

Portable Firefox doesn't have a reset because of the way it deals with profiles.

If you want to start over with nothing saved, all you need to do is delete the FirefoxPortable/Data directory, with Firefox Portable closed.
Caution: this will delete everything, not reset like that reset function does.

Oh, sorry, I must keep all of my passwords, bookmarks and the icons I use with the Bookmark Favicon Changer (I assume, I can export them and import them into the new Firefox) add on. And if possible with my old add ons, but I guess, that would not be possible, but installing these add ons again might not be such a f*g.

If you use the actual built-in feature to Reset, you'll lose all your extensions and all of their settings. The purpose of reset is to get you back to a factory default setting while preserving your bookmarks, passwords, cookies, autofill info, personal dictionary, and open tabs/tab groups.

I could have been more clear. My idea was to start with a clean 2nd profile and add things that you want, testing as you go along. When it is all working as you expect you could then replace the original profile with the new working one.

Yes, that is a very good idea.
Actually I would need my bookmarks and passwords all the time, so testing without them (in everyday life) would be very inconvenient, so I would like to just import them at first. And may be testing would not be necessary because all I use with FF works (more or less) in the old FF, but it is very slow. So, I just would like to keep the original profil as a backup as long until I am sure I have all functions of the old one in the new one.

on one recent install of FF (locla install) I had a problem that it was very slow. On tha same machine I tested against same version of FFportable and this was OK.
I removed all I could, uninstalled all and installed new, no cure still.
Finally I discovered that for no reason known to me, the local install did set up itself to use a proxy, however there was no proxy name in the field for it.
Just to remove the tick to select proxy or no proxy did cure the problem completely.
Why this was ticked and even after a new install and removal of the profile this proxy setting did still persist I did not find out.

try no proxy,in fact if there is no proxy in 'the system' then it should be ok, but try to set it to no proxy at al if there is none in the network.
