PicPick status on adware, toolbars, etc.

Hi,
I've used PicPick casually for a while. Generally, I like it. Saw there was an update - 3.34. Is it now considered adware? Does the portable version (here) contain the same types of adware as the installer version?

Reading some user-type reviews, some people are complaining about it trying to change home pages, install toolbars, etc. I guess you have to opt out, not opt in.

Gizmo's Tech Support Alert doesn't include it on their list of best "free" screen shot apps. Not even on the honorable mention list. (They won't include adware in reviews). Though, with any adware issue aside, it's probably in the top 5.

Softpedia lists it as "ad supported." Random ads is one thing. Highly targeted ads or changing search engines / homepages are another thing.

Here are a few more claims of adware & making changes to computers:

Thanks.

Not Permitted in PA.c Format

Our installer and format are licensed in such a way that installer add-ons are not permitted. PicPick Portable has no such offers included.

Good to know. Brings up

Good to know. Brings up another question.
1) Do you ever sleep?

2) Other than off ads on the website, selling T-shirts / baked goods, how does Portable Apps make its money? Obviously, it's more than a hobby to deal with all the software here.

I'm not saying that a profit isn't justified - just not sure how you keep the lights on?

Sometimes, Some things

1. I sleep sometimes. I vary between later nights and early mornings.

2. Ads, drives, donations. I'm still working on a way to make it self sufficient. There's too much of my own money tied up in it and the resulting interest on debt.

No details required

No details required but are you actually losing money, J?

Accounting standards vary but if you are losing in body (we know about that if we have followed your family) as well as financially ... how about stopping?

How much do *you* owe anyone outside of your immediate family and (possibly) some small business considerations that I am confident you could fulfill financially as an independent?
