Portable Gramps 3.4.8 on Windows XP failure to load

I setup a family tree in Portable Gramps 3.4.8 using Windows 7 & 8. I sent the program to someone using Windows XP and it refuses to load. I have Windows XP in a virtual machine under Windows 7 and when I attempt to run Portable Gramps, the Gramps Portable splash screen appears briefly but Portable Gramps never finishes loading. The Windows 7 machine has an AMD Athlon dual core 2.2GHZ CPU with 4 GB of RAM. I have tried allocating nearly 2 GB of RAM to the virtual machine, but to no avail. Does anyone have a suggestion?

You could read here, maybe it helps you.

Otherwise try to load '/GrampsPortable/App/Python27/python.exe'. If there is an error message, please post here.

Portable Gramps 3.4.8 on Windows XP failure to load

I have gramps on a flash drive. When I use the Windows XP virtual machine to access the flash drive and attempt to load python.exe, I get the following error:

"This application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem."

When I eject the flash drive and attempt to load python.exe under Windows 7, it loads correctly.

Has your system the 2008 C++ redistributable packages installed?
There seems to be a conflict somewhere.

I installed vcredist_x86.exe in the Windows XP virtual machine and now python.exe runs without error.

At first I thought Gramps still didn't want to work so went and did some other things. When I came back, Gramps was running.

Thanks for the help.
