FlashPeak Slimjet

Program:
FlashPeak Slimjet

License:
Freeware

Description:
A fast and flexible Internet browser based on Chrome that's reliable, powerful and packed with features.

Website:
http://www.slimjet.com/

Other:
Profile directory is located at
C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Slimjet\User Data

I don't know about other traces left on the computer. Slimjet is based on Chrome so it should be easy enough to make a portable version.

The "portable" version provided by the developer can be downloaded here:
http://www.slimjet.com/release/sjt7z_x86.exe

Or you can get the installer package here:
http://www.slimjet.com/release/sjtsetup_x86.exe

No one?

Really? Not a single response? I love this browser, surely I'm not the only one!

Yet Another Chromium Browser

Likely because it's "Yet Another Chromium Browser". There are dozens of them. And, unlike the open source Chromium browser on which this is based, Slimjet is closed source. There are a total of 47 people registered on their forum and 166 on Facebook, so there are probably only a few hundred or a few thousand users of the browser. All of these are reasons why other volunteer developers are likely uninterested in packaging and supporting it. That plus the fact that Chrome is one of the *messiest* apps to make portable.

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!

Using the portableapps launcher for Chrome

Would using the portable apps launcher for Chrome work for slimjet? I guess I would need rename the exe name in the ini or something.

It's not really portable, I lost all extensions and configuration data after re-installing windows (didn't even move it).

I use it because I found it to be less annoying than Chrome with it's unblockable updates and other stuff, and unlike all other chromium browsers I saw it retained the translator and flash/PDF support.

Though I don't know how would I move the profile successfully, since I expect I would lose all extensions again. I guess I'll need to export registry keys somehow.

Ahhhh

Well that makes more sense. I still don't understand why people use Google Chrome over plain old Chromium. Or even just go with Iron since it's better in terms of privacy and such.

Thanks for the explanation. I don't know how truly portable Slimjet is on it's own using the archived portable offered from the developer. I'll take a crack at making this one portable. It wouldn't be my first project but the others were easy programs.

Exposure is going to be part

Exposure is going to be part of it.
After-all where on Google do you see them putting an advertisement for Iron or Chromium in your face.
Plus Chromium and Iron are lacking some of the propriety features like the integrated Flash.
That for me is likely the sole reason I am using Chrome over Firefox at present, due to it being hugely better for performance with Flash content.

If at first you do not succeed, use more sticky tape.
