Delete Extra .exe's?

I like the format of the portableapps suite but certain apps i install(programming stuff, etc.) Have more than one exe in them. I only want the program exe to show and i would like to rename them without changing the file name. Is this coming soon?

move them

you can get around this by moving the exe's, this works for for any of those extra exe's a program might have (for example openoffice installs about 6 of them, but i only use 2, so i moved the others into a new folder i created so they are not picked up by PAM)

also

I also wish to name my flash drive something other than PortableApps. My friend doesnt seem to have trouble with this but it wont work for me. I just downloaded it again to make sure we had the same version.

Whats up?!

autorun.inf

edit the autorun.inf file in the root of the drive (it's a hidden file by default). Change the line that reads Label=PortableApps to anything you want to name it.

This may work with

This may work with OpenOffice, but it does not work with other applications like Spybot S&D. The other .exe files are called by the main program, but I don't want them to show up in the menu.

Possible enhancement?

I do realise that this is only for applications that do not adhere to John's dir structure (data, apps, other), but does this mean it will not be added to the PAM wish list?

Alternatively, I would be happy to have PAM pick up shortcuts too. That way I can move the app one level further down the tree and simply place a shortcut to it in the level PAM expects to find it?

Or is it easy enough to wrap exe's in a launcher?

Regards
Paul

Crud

You guys stole the idea from me! Just kidding. I do it like this

1. Download http://64.233.179.104/translate_c?hl=en&u=http://www.f2ko.de/b2e.html&pr...
2. Create a new folder in the programs directory. Call it App
3. Move contents of install directory to APP.
4. Make a new batch file with start app\filename.exe
5. Extract the icon of thw exe included in my Portable Apps Creation Guide 2.0 http://www.mediafire.com/?9nzmljldjdd
6. Start the program and fill out everything
7. Make sure Ghost App is checked.
8. Convert
