12.0.5 Color Changes?

If you're going to change the built in colors of the interface, as is indicated in the change log to 12.0.5, you should at least include customer colors (which was hinted at as coming in another post while I was looking for an answer). There is nothing more personal than color when it comes to someone's interface, and changing the blue color from a nice dark blue, to robins eg blue... is totally lame. Perhaps I'm nitpicking, especially on an awesome application, which I don't even have to pay for, but the change was very startling, and I ended up changing to a color I don't necessarily want, because it's dark, and can't stand the robins egg blue it is now. Just hideous. Please revert or get custom colors soon.

Thanks

Matching The OS

They were changed to match the Windows 7, 8 and 8.1 color sets to better blend with modern Windows. Only the default theme which just debuted in 12.0 a few weeks back was changed. It will be refined a bit more in the next release next week.

If you prefer darker colors to blend with your OS, for instance if you use Windows Vista or a custom dark color in Win 7/8, I'd recommend one of the other themes like PortableApps.com Smooth (the 11.x platform default). Every single other theme other than default uses the older darker colors as they are designed to better blend with Windows XP and Windows Vista but still look pretty good on Windows 7.

Custom colors will be coming in a future release. The GUI is built but needs translating. There's a chance it could debut this month.

Cool!

I can't wait for this feature!

ditto

I like the new themes with the more modern MS office / Windows 8, and was quite happy with the colors before they were changed as well... the old themes are jarring with windows 8. I'll make due with the gray color for now, and look forward to the ability to set my own as well.

Thanks

3.5 years later, 3 versions later, still no custom colors

Nice to see continued development of this great utility, and while I feel like a heel for complaining about a free app (though I have donated in the past at least), it's been 3.5 years since my post, and this is the third major version, and we're still stuck with same basic color palette? I like new features, but what I'd really like is the ability to get that darn thing to match the rest of my system theme. I'd be happy with even the ability to update the ini with a hex color or something, doesn't have to be fancy. Pretty please?!

Coming, Secret Workaround

Sorry, I'd been pushing it off as I had no idea what I was going to do to the theme engine to get it working with high DPI scaling. It turns out I left it as is for now. I've added it to the tracker as a confirmed upcoming feature. It wasn't on the list before.

For now, here's a super secret workaround. Open up your X:\PortableApps\PortableApps.com\App\Graphics\Themes\Default directory and open the PATheme.ini file. At the bottom, edit the hex code for WhiteBackgroundColor= to be your preferred background. You can do this while the platform is running as it will reload the file when you switch to another theme and back with white selected. You can do this for other themes as well. Note, of course, it'll likely be reset on platform upgrades.
