Detected as virus
According to ClamWin:
According to the virustotal website, IKARUS detects it as "PUA.AdGazelle".
Reported
It's been reported to both. ClamWin has frequent issues with this type of false positive as their Windows definitions lag a bit (it uses ClamAV which is primarily intended for Linux). IKARUS this is the first I'd heard of them.
UPDATE Sept 25: IKARUS has responded and the false positive should be solved for users when they next update their definitions.
A step in the right direction
virustotal (which also includes ClamAV) no longer has issues with this file.
But ClamWin still does. According to its official site, it shares definitions with ClamAV, so why's the difference to begin with?
Base Product
ClamWin is a Windows build of ClamAV with a custom GUI from before ClamAV even had a Windows build. Since then, ClamAV has released a Windows build with its own GUI but it is a paid product.
But they share the virus definitions
As I mentioned, they share the same virus definitions. So why should there be any difference in their virus detection?
Definition Date
Virus Total could be using a different date of definition for one vs the other. The detection engines could be tuned a little differently as well.
ClamWin no longer has issues with the file
I've always made sure to use the latest definitions when I wrote my comments. But be it as it may, today's definitions finally made ClamWin stop detecting this file.
changelog.
A changelog for app releases would be nice.
First Paragraph
It says what changed right in the first paragraph.
oh i see, thanks for pointing
oh i see, thanks for pointing it out. Thought that was just a description of the app. Still I think there should be a dedicated/clearly marked, changelog/release notes section for each app.
