Displayerrors after upgrade to version 33

Good morning!

After upgrading to version 33 there are severe diplay errors.
The main window is transparent, message boxes have a black background.
Menuitems, buttons etc are not visible and / or accessible.

A complete new installation of Firefox portable doesn't help.

The browser is completely unusable.

Are there modified settings for display- or graphic handling in use?
The system inuse is a Core I5 with intel HD graphics, Win7 Enterprise.

Thanks for your opinions,

regards,
Stefan

Display Errors

I too have encountered this problem with Firefox 33. I re-installed 32.0.2 and everything is back to normal.

Safe Mode

Did you try starting in safe mode to ensure it isn't a broken extension? You can do this by starting from the command line with:

FirefoxPortable.exe -safe-mode

Or by copying the FirefoxPortable.ini from Other\Source next to FirefoxPortable.exe and entering -safe-mode in the AdditionalParameters= line.

Displayerrors after upgrade to version 33 - SafeMode

Thanks for your suggestion - it works!

now it's the task to find out what's the reason is for this behaviour.

I'll let you know.

Stefan

Enable One At A Time

When I've run into this, I found it best to disable all my extensions and enable them one at a time. Sometimes you can err on the side of efficiency and just enable everything that doesn't effect UI, so things like AdBlock, FlashBlock, etc are usually safe in a situation like this.

Not working

I have the same problem described above with Firefox 33 so I re-installed Firefox 32.0.3, then disabled all my extensions in Firefox 32.03 and then reinstalled Firefox 33 and had back the same problems: in all windows there is only a black background and no icons nor address bar are visible on the main window (which is blue, like the rest of the windows on my pc).
I re-installed Firefox 32.0.3 and everything is back to normal.

The system in use is laptop with a Core I5 mobile with Intel HD graphics, Windows 7 SP1 64 bits. I have also tried with the NVIDIA GPU instead of the Intel HD graphics and had the same problems.

Regards, Andrew

At least two users resolved

At least two users resolved it by updating to the latest graphics driver:

Buggy Intel HD Graphics

Seems like it's a specific older version of Intel HD Graphics driver that is buggy. I'd wager that they'll add the affected version to the blacklist of graphics drivers so Firefox is forced to run with hardware acceleration turned off: https://wiki.mozilla.org/Blocklisting/Blocked_Graphics_Drivers

Buggy Intel HD Graphics

Thank you, Because I tried all the above stuff also. And since I only use this on work computers that I do not have admin access to. I will stay with 32.0.2 for now.

Disable Hardware Acceleration

Just disable hardware acceleration in Options and upgrade for now. There are security fixes in 33.0 so you should not stay with any insecure 32.x builds.

hardware acceleration

I'll try that. Thank you.

edit: It worked. Now to see which themes/addons I deleted when troubleshooting still work.

thanks to all

Sorry for this late reply. The problem occured at my company desktop, so i've no access at the weekend.

I'll try to disable hardware acceeleration tomorrow.
Hope it helps in my case, too.

regards,
Stefan

Update:
It works without hardware accelaration.

Fixed in Firefox 33.0.1

This issue seems to be fixed in FF 33.0.1

Mirroring

The portable build is mirroring now and will be pushed out shortly.
